BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

That's kinda a piece of string question. Did they say it was going out to your specific cabinet or just your exchange? If exchange you may be in for an extremely long wait, they don't enable all cabinets on the exchanges, they do enough to cover, on average, 85% of the population on each exchange.

Exchanges are considered live once a few cabinets are ready. Best bet is to check your details at https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/ and see if that has any further information, and mail [email protected] if the DSL checker isn't informative.

My speeds have dropped a bit since I was first installed. More people on the cabinet, more interference with signals. My lines deliver about 71Mb/s a piece now, down from a clean 76Mb.

Nonetheless both lines are better than most on their own and both are still on fast path, but I'll not be rebooting either modem as I think this is as good as it'll get with the amount of people connected to the cabinet now.

Details on your setup please?

thinking about getting infinity, but the below worries me greatly, as does someone I know who reckons that in the last few weeks they've been getting 10% of their normal speed from a certain point in the evening! Any more info on this people?

Anyone here play fifa on Infinity?

I've been getting awful lag delay for weeks now.

I'm getting royally wound up now with BT now!!

I simply can't fathom why my house is not connected to the same Infinity-enabled cabinet as everyone else on my street!?!?!

On the dslchecker website I get this for my house:

My next door neighbour's results:

Now in all fairness, my next door neighbour is wired up to the wooden pole up the street whereas I'm connected to a metal pole, ironically outside their house!

I thought this could be the reason but then I've looked and next door to them, number 29, is definitely wired to the same pole as I am and here are their results:

Can someone tell me how this works exactly?? I mean surely if my house is connected to the same pole as another, wouldn't that mean that we should be fed by the same cabinet??

BT are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard as the bods on the phone just keep saying it's not available on my street at all (when it clearly is, both on the dslchecker website and their own BT Infinity checker!?!?!)

help.

I'd have thought that the multi-pair going from the pole back to wherever put everyone onto the same cabinet, but it's entirely possible that your line was moved to a spare pair on a different one if you had a fault. If it's not an error in the database then you might well be connected to a cabinet that doesn't have FTTC enabled yet.
