BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

My cabinet just down the street was upgraded to a FTTC one sometime in March and they finished the digging and electrical cabling about two weeks ago but I still can't get it?

Does anybody have any personal experience with how long it takes from completion of a cabinet to the actual offering of the service to domestic customers?

Months if mine was any indication.
 
To the BT Infinity users:

1) Do you get nice low latency for online games like Fifa etc?
2) Is the Youview box any good? ( I don't have a freeview HD PVR at present )
 
Whats the most likely cause of the DSL light dropping out on the OR modem, stays off for 10 secs, then starts flashing as it reconnects, then the internet is back on. OR have sent two engineers who test the line and say its fine but it keeps going off, 5 times a week maybe, at which point DLM keeps dropping the speed.

Any ideas? Even swapped ECI modem for HG, no different

I have a similar problem with the HH5. I wish I was only getting 5 disconnects a week.

I phoned BT and they said they can see all the disconnects and will do a line test. They called back the next day and said "your line is fine you're getting 15mbit" with no reference to the core problem of the disconnects.

I'm trying to force an engineer visit but I think it will be a long fight. Even if the engineer does come out, what's he gonna do if he visits on a good day with no disconnects?
 
Well,i`m going to upgrade from ADSL2 to fibre, but undecided between staying with plusnet (will be paying £14.99+line rental on a 24mt contract for unlimited) or going to BT themselves (meaning i get BT sport free,as i love MotoGp!).

What`s the current cost for BT on infinity 2 all in?
 
Well I noticed this at my mothers house yesterday.. its only been put back 2 years from the original date but its looking close, I moved out the area last year and moved into an infinity enabled area so finally got it! but my dad is looking at getting it anyone know from this stage how long it could be until he could order?

I thought there might have been more cables.
 
I've been told that I'm connected to a non-fibre enabled cabinet and because there are so few properties connected to this cabinet, it's doubtful that it will ever be enabled! :(

Has anyone ever had a similar situation and had any joy getting "swapped" to an enabled cabinet? If so, who would I be best trying to contact?

Soooo unfair that the rest of my street can get fibre but probably don't want it whereas I'd love it but can't get it!!

The only way you could get connected to a different cabinet is to order so many phone lines that it runs out of pairs and they are forced to connect the next line to a different cab.

My mates has is one of 2 out of around 50 in the same boat. In fact he's worse as he's wired straight to the exchange and will NEVER see any benefit unless they run Fibre to his door which they never will.
 
A new cabinet was installed next to the old cab at the end of March, BT Wholesale website tells me Infinity 2 will be available 31-Sep-14.

Who knows if that date turn out to be true, at least it's moving in the right direction!
 
My cabinet is actually powered now, i wonder how long it will take to go live? :eek:

SamKnows puts RFS at the end of June....we'll see. I cant believe my tiny little village is finally getting fast internetz, how exciting.
 
Problem is for me that most of Chatteris already has FTTC, my cabinet was left behind so if I look at Sam Knows all I get is "Available in some areas" !
