BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

My parents exchange has been partially upgrade as some people in the village now have the Infinity service.

I rang BT (my parents supplier) to see if they could be upgraded and they said that there is still not enough capacity in the exchange, but would not (or could not) say if there would ever be enough capacity for all numbers.

Is their only option to keep checking their line status using the Infinity status page?

It seems bizarre that 2/3 of the village has access and the remaining 50 houses cannot be told when they might expect to be connected

Here are the details from my parents line. Below are the details from the pub (next door too!) who are connected to another cabinet

Other users in the village are on this cabinet

From what I've been reading I'm very concerned that 'Cabinet 1' that my parents are connected to will never be upgraded.

Is there any way to check if this is to be the case or not?

Well, apparently Aberystwyth is now live. No sign of my cab getting the green light yet, although to be fair it was only installed about a month ago :p

phone up your isp and see what they say, i only found out i could get mine after seeing sam knows post a activation date of end of june so i contacted them just to see if i could pre order and now i should be going live on the 24th of this month :D

Probably been answered already but now 'NGA enquiries' has gone, how do I escalate a FTTC query?

I've spoken to Plusnet and they said they don't have detailed information. My exchange (Manchester central) has been accepting order for ages. I feel like my cabinet (17) is the only one in central Manchester not being upgraded!

What can I do? Write to councillors?

You need to go through your ISP. If your ISP aren't interested or competent enough to liaise with Openreach then find a different ISP.

as someone about to be new to Fibre/FFTC - any recommendations of whether (as we'll be going for Sky TV) its worth the saving and going with whole package with Sky

or paying a bit extra and separating broadband/Phone and going with an ISP like Plusnet ?

or any other recommendations ?

thanks

Get Sky fibre if you already have Sky TV.

I see this as bad advice, if you bundle your TV and Internet connection together then you risk complicating things when you need to cancel the TV to take advantage of new customer offers every anniversary.

I realise that you can cancel the TV portion of the subscription only, but would having your connection through them not cause considerable complications when it comes to retentions on the TV side?
