BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Where can I find out information about FTTC in Watford? The exchange was enabled ages ago but I cannot find a single post code in Watford that says it can get fibre services.

I saw mine go up and I suspect it was only a couple of months old. It was live when I checked the day I saw it

The novelty hasn't worn off
For an extra 10ppm it's best thing I bought this year

You must be a fair way from the cabinet.

I've found the CAB in my local area which is 0.7 miles from home (Following the road)

There are cabs that are closer, can a user request to be routed through a different cab? BT say that there are no issues with the line.

I'm not aware of being able to get a line moved, but would love to be told it can be arranged. I've got a customer at work who has two cabinets outside their office (about 50m apart). One cab has FTTC but their PSTN lines go to the one that doesn't :(

I'll get on to BT tomorrow and get an answer and let you know either way. Either way, I'll moan about the connection speed and overall performance of it.

Thanks for your help Chri5.

Anyone in Manchester/Stockport having problems with their connection cutting out?

Mine drops but when I restart the hub it comes back up straight away but its getting more and more frequent?

Thanks

At the start of the summer BT replaced the existing CAB and put a new cab next to it. My exchange wen live this year with an estimated time for my area was September now the post code checker website no longer gives an estimated date:( Bt has done loads of work in my area with new cabs going up in surrounding villages with subcontractors laying cables. Anyone have any idea as to how long it takes to go live I have not seen a BT van in month.s

I just got an email from bt: From 1 December 2014 line rental will go up to £16.99 a month.

I don't even use the phone. This is getting ridiculous.

Pretty ridiculous to think the amount of monthly income they get from line rental and that they earn millions more by just putting it up 1-2 quid every few months, and where does this increase in price relate to improved services/speeds?

Important changes to your BT services.

Hello,

We're changing some of our prices in December

From 1 December 2014 line rental will go up to £16.99 a month. We're also making changes to some of our other prices. Click here for details, and read on to find out about Line Rental Plus.

We're also introducing a new, enhanced line rental package

Our customers have been telling us what they think about the things we offer, which has helped us create a new, enhanced line rental package. It's called Line Rental Plus1 and it's coming on 1 December 2014. It comes with these handy extra features, which we'll tell you how to activate once you're on Line Rental Plus:

• Priority fault fixes – tell us about a problem on your phone line and we'll prioritise fixing it for you. We'll aim to fix it by the end of the next working day

• Call Barring to stop expensive calls – so no-one can dial international or premium rate numbers from your phone

• Choose to Refuse to block unwanted calls – stop calls from up to 10 numbers

• Bill updates by text – so you know when your bill is ready, when we've got your payment or if your payment's overdue.

Line Rental Plus simplifies your bill if you don't pay by Direct Debit

If you're not already paying by Direct Debit, then you're paying £15.99 a month for your line rental, plus a payment processing fee of £2 a month. That's a total of £17.99 a month. From 1 December this will become £18.99 a month (when line rental goes up by £1 for all BT customers). With Line Rental Plus, you'll still pay £18.99 a month. But you'll get the handy extra features on top (which would cost an extra £7 a month if you took them individually).

How to get Line Rental Plus

If you don't pay your bills by Direct Debit, then we'll aim to move you automatically on or around your first bill after 1 December, or as soon as we can afterwards. You don't need to change the way you pay, renew your contract or change any of your details. If your next bill arrives before we've managed to move you, you'll just pay for standard line rental until you're on Line Rental Plus (but you don't have to change the way that you currently pay).

If you don't want us to move you to Line Rental Plus, you'll need to switch to Direct Debit to pay your bills, before 23 November. To switch to Direct Debit or find out more, click here (you'll need your account number and bank details to hand). If you already pay by Direct Debit and want Line Rental Plus, visit bt.com/linerentalplus after 1 December.

You can find out about helpful ways to save money on your bill by giving us a call. If you want to leave BT because of these price changes, you need to call us within 30 days of getting this letter to give us 30 days' notice to avoid incurring early termination charges. The notice will start from the day you call, and we'll charge you as normal during that time.

Thanks for choosing BT.

For a new customer to Fibre Broadband who would you guys recommend? I've got availability now at my current home, but I'm currently renovating another property that I'll be moving to early next year, will signing up to 18 month contract (which seems to be the only option) be ok if I'm moving house within that time frame?

I currently use Sky TV and BB but they want to charge me 20 for Fibre + line rental and a 50 for activation fee ! Which seems a bit steep.

I seem to be having a issue with BT and this infinity 2 package the comment i start uploading or downloading the inter cuts me off ALWAYS at the weekend !

Getting really fed up with this never had this issue with sky !

On the verge of calling them up and telling them where they can stick there internet.

Any idea please????

One way of saving is to pay that in one go using "Line Rental Saver".

Be great if I could do this with my provider Eclipse and pay up front for line rental, any others doing this with fibre?

No idea what I'm paying for line rental because its a bundle deal, not itemised either to help split the bill
