BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

You would be lucky.

I find the best place to look is www.roadworks.org. Set the settings to 'next 12 months' and look around your street for the phone icon maintenance work. Usually it'll indicate a telecoms supplier I.e. Openreach or Virgin will be working on something.

I have just had my fibre cab fitted so can't paste mine. Here is another nearby going up though, it's a good sign you're getting a fibre cabinet fitted.

"Install 2m of 1 way poly duct in Footway,Provide 1 Provide/Recover 1 NGA Cab and base (1.5m x 0.5m) "Works are to include the Northern Powergrid jointing process"

Oh God, i've just checked and there's absolutley nothing on the map whatsoever. Checked it till 2018 too, still nothing. Not good seing as it's meant to be 'soon' according to BT's site. Is there absolutley no one I could call to check?

Thanks for your help guys.

BT aren't going to plan that far in advance though. AFAIK, roadworks.org pulls data from council systems so FTTC related work is only going to show once BT tell the local council.

Correct, it only pulls data from local councils when they are informed. So typically you are only going to see work within the next few months. My street's fibre cab data was only published at the start of September. The works were completed between 10-24th October for me. So just keep checking once a month or few weeks if desperate for info. :p

After a month long wait, FTTP kit installed on Friday but still no sign of when I will physically have an internet connection/phone services. BT are an absolute disaster. I spent three weeks trying to explain I am on a FTTP only estate yet they kept trying to put an order in for copper line installations.

Although I have taken a step forward It feels like I have done so with an artic lorry shackled to my belt.

PON light is flashing away on my ONT at the moment?

So i'll ask again... is there any person I could contact at BT to check when i'll be getting my cabinet installed?

I contacted Openreach using the form on their website and one of their customer service guys wrote back to me using [email protected]. There's no notes in the email to suggest it's a no-reply mailbox either.

Good luck though, they took almost 2 weeks to get back to me and their website states 48 hours..

It's trying to contact the exchange but isn't fully verified. Mine was the same until a couple of weeks ago when it went solid green. Have you tried using the address checker on https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/? If it's properly connected it should show like this:

WBC FTTP

Downstream Line Rate(Mbps)
Up to 330

Upstream Line Rate(Mbps)
Up to 30

How long did it take for your PON light to go solid?

Thanks.

This is what a search returns;

Welcome to the Broadband Availability checker. This will provide a provisional check of your ability to receive reliable Broadband services.

Your address has been successfully matched; however we cannot determine ADSL availability at this address. Please try the Telephone Number or Postcode Checker.

For the checker response to be valid you must enter an accurate address. Reliable Broadband services are subject to survey and availability. You will need a BT phone line to obtain service.

If you are unable to provide or match your address, please select the Telephone Number Checker or the Postcode Checker

So this is a long story... I'll be quick. House was built and we completed on 30th May, moved in the same day.

Phoned up Sky to try to get my old house's fibre switched over but they didn't even have the postcode on file. So had to cancel the contract with them. Not a good start.

In July I ordered on BT's website as the postcode was then recognised. I got a call the morning before the engineer appointment saying that they ordered me a copper engineer when it was FTTP. Annoying..

I complained to my house developers who are still on site doing the next phase of the development. They agreed to get an Openreach engineer out and blow the fibre through to inside the house and install all the equipment (ONT, battery backup and phone socket). The PON light was off for about 6 weeks after this.

Suddenly in September, the PON light started flashing. At this stage is where I found the dsl checker returned the same result as what you're having.

It took until the middle of October that the PON light to come on constant and it was at this point that I was able to order BT Infinity Option 3 - 200Mb. My activation date is this Thursday for fibre home phone and internet. Fingers crossed! It's been a hell of a long process.

I have just checked my checker randomly (i already have bt infinity fttc )
and I have seen there is FTTP on Demand 330 30 -- Available

So what does this mean can I order this and does anyone know how much it costs?

Thanks for that. Had a similar situation with regards to them wanting to install copper lines!

Keeping fingers crossed for you and me both!
