BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Weird, i have never seen below around 10-11ms from my FTTC, ever. (Pretty much full sync stable line from day one)

All of a sudden today i notice it has dropped;

That is loads quicker than i have ever seen before, does anyone else see this same low latency from theirs?

Maybe G.INP enabled?

What comes after Infinity 2, will it be 3 with another speed bump or will we be getting very much faster speeds with a new technology?

In regards to Vectoring at 2am this morning i had a huge burst of noise on the line which resulted in CRC errors and the line was down for 5minutes. Then later my router resynced. I doubt it was anything to do with vectoring but i hope it was!

Well after weeks, months and years of waiting, my silly little Scottish village has been enabled today! Just ordered, BT website reckong we'll get 60-80Mbps (which I do find hard to believe) but I've got for the 76Mbps package so we'll see. Activation is due on the 30th of June, is that likely or do these things tend to get delayed?

Hi all,

I am looking to move over to FTTC for a while as Virgin will not be fixing my area for a while (September is the review date with likely delays further on in the road and I cannot stand 1MB/s at peak times, it is ridiculous).

I am looking to go with BT and get Infinity 1 (speed range is around 33-44) so I expect somewhere in the middle and not worth going for Infinity 2. I also cannot pass up the sport offerings.

Those of you with BT, how do you find the service at peak times and what is the support like?

Thanks

Can't speak of the Infinity service (yet), but their support is pretty good providing you go via Twitter. Their call centres will give you the usual run around and make you do all the standard troubleshooting before they actually listen to the problem you're describing, but their social media teams are completely different and have a lot more clout for getting things done.

Thanks for the quick response, I hope they have more clout than VM's Twitter team who just say that issues are complicated. I think I may bite the bullet as I get 30 days with VM anyway and if Infinity is no good, then no harm done and I can cancel it.

Still waiting in Edinburgh. Been pushed back twice so far. Originally scheduled May 2014, then December 31st 2014 ( yeah right ). Currently September 30th 2015. Sigh......

At least my ADSL connection is at the top end of the scale .

Well had my Infinity 2 installed last Friday and I'm very happy with it. Getting the full 80mb download and 20mb upload. Using the BT homehub 5 type B I've had no reboots or line drops. Just hope it stays like this.

Hi guys,
Just purchased a property and I want to get BT Infinity 2 installed.

My local cabinet is open for Fiber. Now I'm very much behind on how this works, so do I just place the order with BT and they will sort it all out? I don't know if the house is Fiber (Is that even a thing?)?

Can someone give me a bit of guidance? Thanks
