BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Guys my brotherinlaw had a BT engineer round yesterday to see why his speed hasn't increased since a New green box was installed. The website says he should be getting close to 50mb now and he was on 15-17mb infinity.

The guy before he even came into the house said "before i even come in I bet you haven't been switched over to the new box yet"

Is it a big job to be switched over?

Has he actually spoken to his ISP and been moved to FTTC? What was his install/migration date?

Finally had my Infinity installed today, getting the full 38Mb down and 9.5Mb up, but now I'm thinking I should have got the 76Mb...can you change your package a day in to it? :D

That's the thing he is on FTTC already just connected to the older green box. which is about 2miles as the bird flys to the old Cabinet.

BT rolled out a huge upgrade of the Network in my area. We live out in the sticks and have two shiny New Cabinets near enough on the same road :)

I'am also on FTTC 17mb down 1 mb up but just upgraded to BT unlimited option 2 but my upgrade process should be simple enough just wondering will he get hit with a pile of red tape.

My parents in law keep having issues with the HH5, it drops out a lot and they've contacted BT who disabled 5ghz (great job guys) but are still having issues.

We have the old seperate white Infinity Modem that came with the first Inifinity rollout, can I give them this and configure up a router for them to use PPPoE and pretty much leave it at that?

Wifi drops out or entire WAN connection?

Ours seems to always sync at 79990 - 80000 which is good.

Does anyone know when FTTP will be available again? Our area seems to show as available on Samknows, but cant seem to order Infinity 3

Says FTTP is available up to 300, i guess it is available?

Yes, give BT a call you lucky so and so.

I think it's called BT Infinity 4? (or used to be if it's changed)

Just be careful, they may have a survey completed first and then quote an expensive setup or installation fee...

A week in and I'm still getting a good speed - My upload has dropped a fraction but the download is very consistent.

I am in a rural area about 60 metres from the exchange. The last few days a green cabinet has appeared outside the exchange along with roadworks. Do you think this is a sign of Fibre will be available shortly?

Yay, line fault.

No voice service, just crackling, speed cut from max sync to 45/18. First major issue I've had, supposedly 3-5 days to fix. Hope I get my speed back once it's done and I don't have to chase them about it.
