BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Order on the 10th august and I still don't have BT Infinity.

The online tracker is saying it will be connected tomorrow, but it always says "We're sorry, your order has not progressed as expected".

:-(

Although my actual phone number is now showing its available:

I've had BT in my new place for a month and I've been getting a few random drop outs. Not for long, only for a minute or 2 at a time but it's a little annoying.

The HH will flash orange, then stay orange steady then back to blue. What does this indicate, router issue or connection issue?

Sounds like the connection is dropping. Openreach will only consider a connection as intermittent if it drops more than 5 times in 24 hours and a Fibre Service test should flag this up to the advisor if this is the case.

Ordered my infinity yesterday. With basic TV package £17.50 + £17.99 line rental is far cheaper than what sky wanted. Couldnt justify the extra £20 a month for 80mb.
after (hopefully) quidco and vouchers I get should come out at around £21 p/m all in for TV and fibre and line rental.

Thanks for that.

I called them yesterday and they said they found a problem somewhere which should be resolved within the next 2 days. I think they were just fobbing me off though. I'll keep an eye on it.

I Order BT Infinity 2 on the 20th August. I also signed up for BT TV at £7.50 per month. That included a £100 Sainsburys gift card.

I went via Quidco, £170 cashback, scheduled for March Payment.

My Youview box and HomeHub were delivered on time and the service went live this morning.

So far, so good.

Well guy turned up and said he couldn't move the socket. I need an open reach engineer phoned them to ask for the socket moving and for some reason their calling me back on Tuesday. Looks like it's going to be £130 to move the socket.
Really struggled to understand the person on the phone it was very hard work.

I am sick and tired of constant connection drop out happening all the time with my standard broadband. Will BT infinity likely to solve this problem or will it less likely to happen with fiber? Now I am wishing I went with Virgin rather than depending on the phone line.

I'm still suffering connection drop outs.

I'll keep calling BT but I'm wondering if it's worth getting a new modem/router? I don't really need one unless it's likely to fix the issue.

I'm wondering, got my order for Infinity and it comes with the HH5, I have a Linksys WRT-1200 and it would be a shame to go to waste as i'm assuming that it's a lot better than the HH5, what type of modem will I need?

I'll just use the HH5 upstairs to 'extend' the Wifi and act as a switch.

How is the homehub 5. Spec sheet looks good, wifi ac + dual band + 4xgb ports. But I fear for bad performance and backdoors.
I have a netgear N900 and a Billion 7800N hanging around at the moment but these are getting quite old now and I dont really wanna buy any more kit.

So it would be better to ditch it and get a modem? Is that the best modem for the job? Do I need a different one deepening on what cab I have?

Also do I need to get an 'unlocked' one or will one that says 'Eco life by infinity' do?

So two years after moving into a new build I am still unable to get fibre BB even though 4 minutes walk away its been available for 3 years! (5mbit is really starting to do my head in!) the cabinet can't be that far away!

I can get no information on what is going on, I know what number cabinet I'm on (21) but have no idea where this is or when its going to be upgraded. they have moved on from this town and now don't give a hoot

Any idea how I can find out what the hell is going on or some kind of date when they may decide to come back and do this cabinet?

Its ridiculous to leave 1000 new homes in this area without decent fibre when the rest of the town has it, I can walk around the corner and i have friends with it available so it all doesn't make any sense to me

Your choice. I don't like the HH because the firmware is locked down. The Huawei modem will work with an ECI cabinet as well as their own brand. It's much more of a challenge to unlock the ECI modem. You should determine the make of your cabinet before you buy a modem. Do you have a photo of your cabinet?

It isn't necessary to get an unlocked HG612. The unlocking process is fairly straight forward. Latest HG612 firmware.
