BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

June, September, etc. appear to be the standard holding dates they use. Not something to be relied on for an actual install date.

Who do you think will be paying BT to install the cabinet? Is it covered on one of those regional funding options?

I've just been checking some FTTC dates for some customers. The dates for one customer keeps slipping and this morning it shows as "31-Mar-17" There is a little note on the bottom of the BT checker saying : "Cabinet to be enabled between Apr-16 and Mar-17. Date to be confirmed once the survey is complete." Can't rush these things!

My speeds have been dropping to around 25% over the last few days. Has anyone else had the same problem? Instead of 80 / 20, I'm seeing :

Your choice. I don't like the HH because the firmware is locked down. The Huawei modem will work with an ECI cabinet as well as their own brand. It's much more of a challenge to unlock the ECI modem. You should determine the make of your cabinet before you buy a modem. Do you have a photo of your cabinet?

No idea where the cab is, how can i find out where it is and what it is?

My BT activation date is the 17th and I cant wait tbh, got £100 Sainsbury voucher and £30 cashback from Quidco and its only cosing me 10/per month for the fibre. I'm hoping that this over EE 17mb I have atm the moment will sort out the lag/**** knows problems im having with fps games. The data for the games isnt a constant flow but rather lumps of data (dont know if that is normal) so the ingame issue is that the info gets processed as a lump and hits me in game as a lump ie: I will die and then on the death screen I see the 1 shot that killed me, best way I can put it is desync as things happen out of order.

Had a call from an engineer, so hopefully they can get to the bottom of this. He asked me one of the first questions that he said they usually ask customers : 'Do I turn the router off?', to which I replied 'Yes'. Apparently, that's a common cause of internet line slow down, something I wasn't aware of. Why it has taken so, so long for that to occur, I don't know. I'll have to hook up the router to a separate socket, which is no problem.

Mines acting up too, gone from 74/20 to 40/10 - It seems like some sort of cap however as when I run a speed test theres literally no fluctuation in speed at all, perfectly constant at that speed.

Keep an eye on it, you might have a fault on the line like I did / do. If you do regularly switch your router off, it might be worth not doing that in future.

Mine's slowly improving, crawling back up to around 24 / 12 / (ping 7ms).

So two years after moving into a new build I am still unable to get fibre BB even though 4 minutes walk away its been available for 3 years! (5mbit is really starting to do my head in!) the cabinet can't be that far away!

I can get no information on what is going on, I know what number cabinet I'm on (21) but have no idea where this is or when its going to be upgraded. they have moved on from this town and now don't give a hoot

Any idea how I can find out what the hell is going on or some kind of date when they may decide to come back and do this cabinet?

Its ridiculous to leave 1000 new homes in this area without decent fibre when the rest of the town has it, I can walk around the corner and i have friends with it available so it all doesn't make any sense to me

This sounds similar to me, I'm also on a cab (coincidently 21!) that is "under review" I escalated to my local MP and they pushed it at Open Reach, who said "it's not commercially viable, contact your local BDUK team", so I've done that and the local team said, "it is viable for Open Reach and it doesn't qualify for funding" helpfully they suggested 4g data (we barely get 3G as it is) or wireless broadband that has no coverage or Sat broadband which is just £LOL£. So we're stuffed basically and that is pretty much a 5 minute walk to town and 2 mins from the area covered by existing footprint.
