BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Iam so leaving gash talktalk for infinity and bt sport when it comes live at my cabinet. On the openreach website site my cabinet status has changed to High Demand and it says - Your area is enabled for Superfast Fibre but demand is high on your cabinet right now. This means you can't order Superfast Fibre today but we're working to increase capacity as soon as possible. How long did it take for you guys till your cabs were accepting orders?

Anyone who signed up for BT Infinity lately as a new customer, don't forget to check if you're eligible for a giftcard. It would've been advertised at the time of ordering but you need to apply for it, they don't send it automatically:

Just got mine today after applying for it last week. That plus the £131 TCB cashback I got a few weeks ago means they're paying me to use their internet for a year. :)

Thanks for that, I've put my claim in.

I've been having repeated problems with drop outs and download/upload speed dropping down by half so they've sent me a new home hub. Fingers crossed it fixes the issues.

Does anyone have the email for Openreach? I recall someone here emailing them with issues, which eventually got resolved.

We're having problems in our Village with "Connecting Shropshire" who keep delaying our fibre installation time and time again.

If your cabinet is being upgraded via BDUK, Openreach won't tell you anything. Have you tried contacting Connecting Shropshire to ask what's happening?

My mum's cabinet (upgraded via BDUK) was in the ground for almost 18 months before it went live and the date was pushed back 4-5 times.

Thanks Olly, I've been in contact with Connecting Shropshire several times, as have other residents. Work seems to happen, then stop for months on end. The cabinets have been in the ground for well over 12 months.

I'll just have to keep waiting and hoping.

The new HH5 hasn't fixed the issue. I'm going to keep on at BT. Anyone got any idea where the problem may lie?

I keep getting disconnected from the net (only for about a minute at a time). This happens multiple times a day.

The internet speed is also half what I have been quoted. (11mbps instead of 22mbps). If I reset the router it will jump back up to 22mbps for about a day then drop back down again.

What are BT like for FTTC now? I was with them before and everything was routing via Sheffield causing high ping, is this still the case?

Thinking of moving from Sky in order to get BT Sports for free.

Don't know if they only route certain areas through sheffield, but ping has been fine for me since being on the service (March 2014 I think). You know you only get the cheap bt sports channel right? The one with champions league on, you still have to pay for (discounted), if you are with BT.

Before that I was with BE*.

BBC pings for me at

Much the same as it was on BE*, so I assume it's taking a similar route.

Those times seem fine to me, but I guess they could be high compared to other services (not really compared).

I have an un happy household due to wifi from hh5. Before that i had the Asus RT-N56U running with no problems until BT changed hh5 router/modem solution.

What router would be best for my needs that's a good performer, i don't want to go back to separate modem and router, budget is open ish.

Help me restore to a happy household.

Cheers, I thought BT Sport was free for some reason. I'll look into it.

It was before they had the champions league. Now it's £5 pounds of Broadband customers and £20 if you aren't.

I have been having an amazing service since I switched to Infinity. Very reliable broadband for me.
