BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

dude u can get FTTP not fancy that ?

Yeah that would be lovely, but how do I go about getting it? Plus Net seem to offer a trial to existing members and BT do not seem to mention in on there site.

A quick search does reveal that the installation costs could be massive depending on the distance, 800 m in my case.

Edit: A one-off distance based charge of £2 per metre and £38 a month

I don't need that much speed I would just like enough so more than 1 person can be doing something online. If we want to watch Netflix we have to make sure nothing else is happening online, downloads etc

Engineer booked for 8 Jan. Excited doesn't do it justice. :p

Something is definitely wrong with my infinity. I had no issues at all with the 8meg connection. Ok it would randomly reset and I would stay connected anywhere from 3 or 4 days to 60 days.

On this hub I'm lucky to stay connected for a day. I have had about 6 disconnections today. It was fine the first few days. I'm also getting the connection drop to my pc for 3 or 4 seconds intermittently. The hub isn't switching off/resetting and during the time I'm waiting for a re-connection I can use wifi. Initially I thought it might be my devolo adapters, I have been using powerline for years with no issues so I ordered a section of cable to run hardwired to test it.

But my wife noted this is happening on wifi too, not at the same time as my direct connections and she is right. I just had a wifi disconnection for 5-10 seconds and when I look at the event log it shows the disconnection. In fact my event log is littered with reports of them on all devices.

Does this sound like a hub issue? It was fine before, could this be a firmware issue? Tomorrow Once I confirm the hardwiring it's still happening I will give them a ring.

You can see I was using the ipad and it dropped for a few seconds and reconnects. Hardwire was fine when this happened and vide versa when it happens the other way around...

u not try someone elses modem for a few days

ive read on here people see the difference with a better modem with regards to disconnections

Yeah I'm just waiting for my cable to be delivered to rule out any problems with power line adapters but tbh I don't think it's the case. The hub reset at least 3 times in the night and my sync speed now is down to 53333. When I get the disconnections on wifi and wired the disconnection isn't because of the hub reset. It's a 3-20 second disconnection and then reconnects.

I don't know anyone with a HH5 to test. I must be one of the first in the village to go on infinity.

Im guessing ill have fun speaking to the Indian call centre soon if it dont pick back up :(

SO I moved in to a new build, there is fibre bundled up just inside the house and Openreach have confirmed once the equipment goes in I will be able to get up 330Mb.

Any ISP's currently doing this?

Anyone using it, what router are you using?

Might be some on going issues, as I'm getting multiple timeouts across websites that were working OK earlier. I know the sites are still there, can access them via 4G on my mobile fine, and other people can access. But not if you're on BT.
