BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

It won't be - CodeLook knows which postcodes are served by a cabinet but not the cabinet's actual location.

You can use BT's DSL checker to find your cabinet number and then go for a walk (or Street View tour) to find the cabinet that has the matching number marked on it in large white numerals.

I'm thinking about joining BT. Ditching Virgin Media. Need to move on from them.
BT, Sky, EE,Vodafone etc all qouting me with same speed lines around 46mb-60mb. Only BT and Vodafone are saying minimun 45mb guaranteed... Would rather have a stable connection of 45/50mb then a 100mb line that half the time i never get.

Can get BT for £31.71 for Infinity 1 with evening and weekend calls. Will need a new line installed which will be free of charge.

Would like to know how BT are? Anything i should be aware off?

They are all pretty much the same. BT probably has the best router assuming you need one. They all complete **** if you have a problem...

There are others that are a bit more expensive such as Zen but if the big companies do what you want for cheaper just go with them.

Don't forget Quidco/Topcashback for more savings.

@Sho Vodafone have a really good fibre deal on at the moment.

If you use Top Cashback you can get £40 odd cash, plus from Vodafone 1 of several goodies... Have a look :)

Yes ive been on the Vodafone website. Deal looks very good. Only thing thats putting me off is £60 charge for new phone line installation.
BT will do it for free.

Its a toss up between BT and Vodafone

Vodafone: Fibre 76, free evening weekend calls for £34 a month plus a 1 freebie goodie. Plus £60 for Engineer visit

BT: Infinity 1 free evening weekend calls for £31.79 a month and free phone line installation plus £9.99 one off charge

Do you actually need a new phone line installed? Do you not have an existing BT line & socket they can remotely activate?

If so, select the first option and just don't put in a phone number - it should then continue as if you're doing a line takeover, therefore not incurring a £60 fee.

hi there,

can someone tell me if this is a gpod cabinet and not just a fttc extention cabinet

Unfortunately i do need a new phone line installed :(

Hence why im leaning towards BT.

What about Plusnet @Sho ? Not sure if they charge for the new line.

If they do then BT sounds like your best deal then! Don't forget to use Top Cashback for £80 cashback for BT.

You will need a new line, even if you had a line physically installed in your house it would be disconnected at the cabinet/exchange so the fee still applies.

We did BT for our first year because of that same fee and switched to a cheaper provider after the initial contract was up. Worked out cheaper in the long run as at the time they were giving away Sainsbury vouchers and a chunk of cashback on Quidco.

BT customer service is awful and their prices are typically way higher than other companies. Check out TopCashback and Money Saving Expert for current cashback deals - often you can combine third party cashback deals with ISP gift card offers and save tonnes when switching.

Yes i was aware of that. Been a Virgin Media customer for 8 years. New straight away i'll need a new phone line installed.

TBH all company's have their fair share of awful customer service. I've never been a BT customer. So time will only tell.

Yes, went through Money saving expert website. Thanks

Infinity 4 was finally activated yesterday after 12 months waiting
We have been stuck with 1Mb ADSL for 12 years so we are finally out of the dark ages
23 minutes to download a 53GB game is just nuts for where we live

We did this through BTs community fibre program and I would absolutely encourage anyone in a rural area and not in any existing rollout plans to get in touch with BT and their local BDUK program for funding
Feel free to drop me a trust if you want any advice

My Infinity 1 £18pm contract ends next week and going to ring rentention to see what they can offer me but I can't seem to find their number, is it the same as options team?

My BT Infinity contract ended last week so I signed up to the BT deal from MSE for £27.99/month with £150 reward card which makes it £345 a year under my wife's name so I'm wondering will they do anything at the exchange to my line when it comes to the activation day?

My BT Unlimited Infinity contract (£16/month + £205 line rental saver, total £397/year) ends tomorrow so I rang their options team today and the best deal they can offer me is Unlimited Infinity 2 including line rental for £39.99 on a 12 months contract (£479/year) however I had Infinity 2 before and I get 58Mbps whereas with Infinity 1 I get 54Mbps so not much of a difference but was told that Infinity 1 is more expensive than Infinity 2 for some reason.

The new deal is £82 more than my previous contract so I found a BT deal on HUKD/MSE for £27.99/month with £150 reward card which makes it £345 a year and I tried to sign up to it using my wife's name but I get the page below after entering my phone number and postcode.

So I'm wondering how do I get the new customer deal using my existing phone number, do I need to cancel the line and then port the number back over?
