That is a very valid point. I wonder what the stance will be on this as FTTP becomes more popular, although this will be light years away... :rolleyes:

agreed - I wasn't bothered about when/how/if etc - simply wanted updates/correct information as the original date was March 2013, some houses 500 yards away from me (connected to a different cabinet) have had fibre for 2 years now but the information for my house was totally lacking/zero updates/no-one knew anything etc.

Best customer service I've ever had from Liz - superb.

Would you mind sharing Liz's contact details? I'm sat on a cab of the stratford upon avon exchange that is at capacity and have NO idea when it will get sorted

- I live in a small village so I'm pretty sure the cab serves almost all properties.

Ordered today

Infinity 2 and installation is 29th May.

Estimated speeds are 77-80 and 19-20. I am about 50 yards from the cabinet.

I have never had BT before as its always been KC so they will be putting in a new wire etc.

Looking forward to having the conversation with KC about leaving, they cannot offer fibre here so no argument

Rang KC and cancelled my existing line, the guy said we cant compete so don't blame you.

Can't fault the sky deal there. One.... minor point to keep in mind. Sky don't guarantee speeds at peak, BT infinity do. I've had to go to Virgin as fibre is poor in my area, at the previous address though I was slap bang in the middle of suburbia Sheffield and never saw my line fail to hit 73Mb at any time.

A minor point to moot over

Currently on Sky Fibre, using a flashed HG612 hooked up to an Asus RT-N66U running Merlin FW - currently achieving approx 25Mbps due to being 980m from the cabinet.

Moving house shortly, it's pretty close to a cabinet, estimated speeds are around 66Mbps but planning on going to Plusnet as I don't want Sky at the new place. I plan to take my HG612 over with me and continue to use he Asus RT-N66U with just the Sky MER details removed (might even revert back to Asus stock FW) and then no bothering with a router from Plusnet.

Sound like a viable plan - anyone got any other thoughts?

Any reason not to take Plusnet over Sky Fibre in terms of performance/throttling. Don't care about customer service / pricing etc at this stage

Sadly, word of mouth from a colleague in a management grade (he was pointing out Virgin and Sky/etc don't do this, BT have been somehow pushed/forced to). I've only got my own experience as an anecdote to back it but the personal experience was of a line speed that didn't blink, even during peak hours.

Take with a massive pinch of salt, I'm not making any wild, cast iron claims

You shouldn't have hardware issue and I too will have my modem prized from my cold, dead, hands

I'm Baaaaaaack, with more problems from the brilliant guys at BT.

So, three weeks ago I had an engi out to fix my issue of zero internet connection, took them two weeks for them to visit me, but enough about that, I had 74down and 19up rock solid for 3weeks.

So yesterday, after a really bad day, come home to just chill out and relax before I made a Uncle Gravy faced shape in the wall, I discovered I've gone from the above speeds to this

So at that point I threw all my toys out the pram, contacted BT, them asking me if the "Yellow" wire if plugged all the way in....Either way my line has been put on stabilization and "should be fixed in 24-36 hours, Checked my stats this morning, 49down 1 up. *Sigh* [/Rant]

I see people are using the HG612 modem, what is the benefit over HH5?

Has the HH5 issue now been resolved?
I know that BT kept to the line "There is no known issue with these devices", however I also know I was not the only one to suffer regular dropped connections.
My 74/16 connection via HH3 & Modem dropped to 56/12 when I "upgraded" to the HH5.

My HH3 has died - just will no longer power up. I know I could look at buying a relacement, however I've got a HH5 here.
I know there have been some new firmware updates for this device - if I were to plug this HH5 in I'm assuming that it would automatically get the latest firmware, will that then be a stable device? Or are tehre still issues?
Is the HH5 with external VDSL modem an option? The VDSL modem I have is fine, it's just the HH3 which ahs died.

Can't say i've had issues with my HH5. Changing the RJ11 lead to a shorter one gained a few mb. I connect at 79000/20000 with a max rate of 79000/24900.

If I was allowed, I'd snap the HH5 into little pieces and send it back to BT along with my own faecal matter, this is what I come home to, note I'm on Infinity 2
