BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Did that include and engineer visit with Openreach modem? A cabinet only activation is £49+VAT.

An engineer visited the house, didn't do much though as there was a disconnected phone line already installed. Basically he plugged his oscillator into the socket then went to the cabinet. Came back about an hour later, told me about getting another engineer to complete the work, then left.

Just went from adslmax(8.0mb .40mb) to infinity(55mb 20mb),its life changing stuff :D

Its awesome isn't it :D

I remember the exact same thing being said when 512k broadband came out when all we had was 56k dial up. And then "computer stuff" suddenly went from a mostly nerds-only thing to almost everyone loving it.

Bak in the day i had isdn2,be4 everyone else, was amazing, then moved house to a rural area ,always stuck on the archaic tech since then :(

Great to be mainstream again ;) 10x my previous D/L and and 30x my UL!

We ordered BT Fibre up to 52Mbit:
£49 activation
£6 delivery
£38.99 a month
£100 reward card
£100 Quidco Cashback

It's due to go active on the 9th July. What's stopping me cancelling the current order and re-ordering at this price?

That seems like a lot??

Im paying 310mb FTTP and line rental £47.99.

52Mbps is £20 a month + £18.99 'line rental' outside of a promotion. There's a promotion on to get it for £10 a month for 12 months, nothing stopping you cancelling the current order and re-placing it, assuming you don't mind the delay.

£47.99 for Infinity 4 (?) including line rental is a good price and a fairly large discount on the normal rate.

Nothing wrong with the DrayTek.

I'd try to get hold of a used or new Openreach Huawei EchoLife HG612 (don't pay extra for an unlocked version as it's a simple update).

There seem to be quite a few about at for a reasonable cost (< £25) at the moment.

Much obliged for the heads up there - I had seen a few on eBay but wasn't sure; decided to swap the Draytek direction for a HG612 3B purely from your heads up and cost perspective; picked up for about £13 posted which I think was pretty reasonable.

Think I'm going to jump from Sky to BT

Paying £30 for fibre pro and £18 line retnal with sky

I can get BT Fibre up to 52Mbit:
£10 a month plus £18.99 line rental.
£49 activation
£6 delivery
£100 reward card
£100 Quidco Cashback

Seems a no brainer and should get similar speed as it's all the same distance/exchange etc.

My switch day is today, was cut off from sky at around 8.30 this morning, but still waiting for my BT infinity to activate. Is it normal to wait all day for it to transfer?

£120 if you use Top Cashback.

I signed up to BT just 12 days ago and already my smart hub is having issues. Last night I noticed the connection was running slow so I thought I'd restart the hub however when it rebooted all devices connected wirelessly lost all internet connection. They were connected to the hub but not receiving internet and to make things more confusing, anything connected to the hub by cable were working fine

I phoned up and went through a load of tests; they told me to restart the hub - nothing, reset the hub - nothing, forget the network and reconnect - nothing, then finally to unplug the hub altogether for a minute and to switch it back on - bingo it worked. 2 minutes later it's ****ing gone again. Phoned straight back and was told I'd need to call the technical team this morning to get it fixed. Spoke to somebody this morning and he ran the same tests as the first person I spoke with last night but nothing would work, then the cheeky **** tells me he will transfer me to a different technical department which I'd have to pay for! I lost my **** with him. He kept trying to tell me that there was no problem with the hub and it was my laptop that just couldn't connect - despite it being 5 different devices that I couldn't get internet wirelessly with. Despite initially claiming it was impossible to transfer me to somebody higher than him, after me repeating "are you ****ing kidding me" about 10 times over, he gave in and transfered me to somebody else and within 2 minutes they arranged a new hub to be sent out tomorrow morning free of charge.

Has anybody else experienced this problem before?

Welcome to BT. Works fine until you need to call them.

So just got home from work, and still no connection :(

Just tried phoning them, was in a queue for 46 minutes and have just given up :(

Really not a great start

Well I have finally managed to order FTTP from BT 8 weeks after moving into my house (New Build). In honesty after being promised next day activation from the management team, Its now being activated Wednesday. I have an open complaint open with them, as I was promised a good deal on anything else I wanted to order.

Think I'll be going to the ombudsman too as it will hopefully get abit more from that
