Building Oblivion

I think i installed FCOM the last time i played it, and started seeing missing mesh signs everwhere, when i looked for a solution, it turned out that the meshes for the mod were a completely different file, which was not made clear anywhere. Maybe it was just that mod though.

i cant roll back much cause i couldnt get git to work, wouldnt let me select the options op suggested so gave up but folowed everything else will try and isolate it in a while

just been playing for 20mins and the missin meshes stars keep poping up everywhere, just doing the first quest , maybe 3-4 keep popping up every 5 mins or so, frustration as the game looks amazing

just installed GOTY - Shivering and the official plugins

But i have a really annoying Glitch.

All the menu Bars item buttons seem to glitch with a flicker of black viewing them

like some sort of trasparency gfx glitch it seems

win7 i7 xfx6970 6gb ram

Any ideas...

Tempted to just buy the steam version any way

never done modding

yes im hoping to be able to mod oblivion goty deluxe edition for steam later this week i have windows 7 and cant use git shell extension cuz its for 32bit OS only wondering if there is a work around for it any help would be useful only mods i want to combined are visuals ones so the game world looks better

Can someone give me a hand with this please? I managed to do it before about a year ago, but this time (On a clean install i'm having trouble).

I installed Oblivion fresh, OBMM, BOSS then WyrePython and WyreBash. When I went to install WyreBash it said please install the prerequis****, so I selected them and installed. It seemed to me after that point that I may have jacked it up, so I fully wiped everything and started over.

This time, when installing WyreBash, I don't get the notice about turning Lock Times off, nor do I get the option to tick Bashed Patch 0.esp, it's simply not there.

Any ideas of how to proceed?

The latest version Wrye Bash doesn't prompt you to turn Lock Times off, you can toggle it on and off by right clicking on the left pane on the installed Mods list. To get the blank Bashed patch, just copy Oblivion\Mopy\extras\bashed patch, 0.esp to Oblivion\Data.

I'd recommend running the 291 version (previous release) - 292 has some "issues"

Works for me on 7 64bit, you don't NEED to run git - just copy paste your Oblivion install before a batch of mods are added. I'm going to redo this guide for BAIN soon - then you don't need to use version control.

Cheers, I'll do that. Should I still install Python 04 or use the 03a recommended in the OP?

I've installed 291 (Which this time installed without any issues), but still not having bashed patch show up, even when copypasting the file from extras to data. Do I have to update/refresh wyrebash or something?

Edit.

DERP. Ignore this. I Copypasted to extras/data and not oblivion/data.

I have a question about streamline (Something I didn't use before); I followed your instructions and ingame turned off everything but streamsave. When I came out of game and editted the .ini, all the features were set to 1, then back in game they were as well. Is this intentional or are they supposed to be off full stop?

Edit. Also checked the savelots, which I reduced to 5 ingame, but got put back up to 15 in both the .ini and ingame. Should I just modify the .ini to the recommended settings?

Just edit the ini file directly. I think Streamline has permissions issues or something with modern windows. I've seen a couple of recommendations not to run it at all, so I may start looking for a more lightweight autosaver to use instead. Certainly all the FPS / Memory management is better handled by Stutter Remover.

Ta. Last question (!) For the stealth/psychic guards mods, should I make these into OMODs or install them straight to the Oblivion folder?

Argh, where the hell do you go to start Wrye Bash? Every time I come back to this game it takes me forever to remember where its installed to by default and what to open to make it work ><

edit: Oblivion/Mopy, argh why such stupid install paths!!!!

Time to see if adding in Deadly Reflexes and nGCD breaks the game :D

NGCD played really nicely with the install I had before. It's quite simple mod really, I had the improved Birthsigns part going with it.

Having a bloody nightmare getting UFCOM working, I started Oblivion, zoned into a new area and a guard turned bright green and keeled over dead which was interesting. All the other guards were bald, and leaving the city caused an instant CTD. I may just give up, and choose whatever the best levelled monster mod is and get that working.

(I always just press windows key and type wrye in the search)

I did that but didn't find anything :p

Hmm, starts fine, lets me choose a character, then freezes when its trying to initialise some of the mods it seems. Time to play find the broken mod...

Is it weird that i enjoy this almost as much as playing the game;)

On more than one occasion i have messed around with mods for ages getting them to work and then when it comes to playing the game, i don't feel like it:D

I almost feel disappointed when playing Oblivion/Fallout or whatever and it is completely stable:rolleyes:
