[Buildlog] GAME HARD, FOLD HARDER

My appologies for the ghastly quality of the photos. My neighbour is too busy with his own stuff atm so he cannot help me out. So with yellowish light and an all purpose birthday picture taking camera this is what I got. Please don't hit me...

If I don't use a flash the orange becomes....pinkish :(

My Sammy 1.35v 4*4 GB kit. This mobo will eat them for breakfast. Aiming for 2400mhz with them @ 1.65v. I will be fitting a XSPC RAM waterblock on them when I also receive my XSPC heatsinks to fit to the bare Sammies first.



One brand spanking new i7-3770k from the United States of Americana.



EKWBs prefered weapon of choice. Gelid Extreme. So if it's good enough for them it is good enough for me. It is non conductive so also usefull for the GPUs.

Ever since I first layed my eyes on these I wanted one. So stylish and clean. LUV'M





It is a used one. Bought it for 20 euros because there was one screw missing. I bought another pack of Raystorm screws for 8 euros. So I got an alright deal.

As you can see from the following before and after pictures. The previous mounting left a bit of a darker spot on it. Hukky does not approve of that :nono:



After me and my friend Mr. Brasso worked our magic it got the official Hukky seal of Approval! :thumb:

I normally use this to clean a thermometer after being used....where the sun does not shine. But I also use it to whipe any kind of grease from the cpu lid caused by fingerprints.



And after putting a pea worth of Gelid Extreme on it I placed the waterblock. Isn't she a beauty?

ps don't mind the poo-stool on the far right xD I accidentally snapped that through the lid of the box :D













I ordered a small package containing the new screw pack for the Raystorm, orange o-rings (as if you can see them after fitting, oh well as long as I know they are there) and three of the Bitspower fittings to be able to fit plexi tubing in them. I made a few shots of them. Pay attention to one of them looking into the fitting with the flash. You can see the two black o-rings in there which will keep the pipes in place and make them NOT leak.



















And back in the box. The case is currently somewhere else (together with my stock of parts) because we're remodelling the attic. So I will now transport this to where the case is friday (when my wife isn't working in the evening) and fit it into the case (and maybe take one or two pictures).

mmmmmm high end hardware. Looking really good. Don't mind that you can't see the new O-rings! You know they are there and it's that attention to detail that sets builds like this apart from the rest!

Are you going to make any modifications to the XPSC RAM blocks for the Samsung RAM? It would be very cool if you could keep the low profileness of it all! :)

Thank you. I agree. Such tiny details are what I like about builds as well. :)

I don't know if I will mod the RAM plates. I know they also come with plexi spacers for low profile ram. I will have to see them and then look at how and IF I can mod them properly to keep the low profile look of it all.

Nice attention to detail - I'm on the lookout for Orange O-rings and paint to match my GA-X58a-OC - any recomendations?

Regarding ram, I thought that it was not advisable to use 1.65v long term as these purported to shorten the life of the CPU...
 
really looking forward to seeing the board in the case....trying to picture the orange colour scheme coming together, its going to be a nice looking rig!

I am not sure. I think 1.65v is fine to run. Especially with this mobo. It all depends on how fast it can go on 1.5 and 1.65. Perhaps I will turn it up to 1.65 to get the max but for 24/7 I will run it at 1.5. But then again, if it ain't broken you're not pushing it hard enough :D

The o-rings are from Bitspower. As for paint, you would need to go to a shop and colourmatch.

I have never used one of these before and I have always been interested in them. I mean they're not very cheap and some people claim them not to work at all. Yet all the pro players have them or even endorse them. I got in contact with one of the marketing employees of Gunnar and explained him about this project. He was very positive and offered me one of their glasses for the project (and added a shirt to give away to a viewer of one of my buildlogs). I can give them a try and see how they work for me. I have to say they already have a big + in the looks department. I think they look very stylish. Since this hardware will be powerfull enough to do some serious gaming I will use the glasses when trying to do some benching and when playing a hardware eating game to see how it performs :rock:
And of course with general computerwork. I have a job that requires a lot of screen time and I game as a hobby so their glasses should be very worthwhile for me.

Same here. I am going to use them soon (I keep forgetting to bring them to work). I have had quite a lot of very positive US comments on them.
 
Finally update time! :thumb:

I made some new pictures of the stuff in daylight now. Much better even though same camera.

Also finally another package with watercooling stuff I need. Going to try and fit some stuff this weekend. I can now measure some cabling and such. I can't wait!
