Burnount Paradise Demo next week?

Nope It did'nt do anything for me.
The Burn-out team obviously ran out of Ideas and
Decided to make a mish mash of need for speed and test drive with a hint of burnout 1,2 and 3. why bother?

I also think It has to much Orlando Bloom (to sunny).

Back to Project Gotham Racing 4 It Is then :)

WOAH :D :D The demo is amazing :D :D I haven't felt that insane and free in ages! And getting into the online mode is soooo quick and seamless.
Has anyone tried using motion sensor steering? It's actually alright even though this game is so fast

so it should be, one is a demo, the other is the full game.

What a strange thing to say

With that comment you are basically saying that the full game of Paradise will be nothing like the demo....

It doesn't make a slight bit of difference that it's a demo, a demo is just that, a demonstration of the full game, and in my opinion the gameplay of Revenge is more fun than the gameplay of Paradise.

sorry guys but I agree with DreXel here. so far I find revenge to be much more fun than paradise. I just dont like the open city bit :( bring back tedious loading screens i say lol

well the gamespot review has some interesting info for those moaning about crash mode

Winning challenges in Burnout Paradise is how you upgrade your Paradise City driver's license and thus get access to better vehicles. However, it isn't just about the intersection challenges; every road in Paradise City is a challenge unto itself in this game. By pressing up on the directional pad, you can enter one of four road-rules challenges: two race (offline and online) and two crash events (offline and online). Road-rules races challenge your timed run from the very beginning of the street to the very end, whereas crash events will test your high score in "showtime" mode, which is essentially one extended car accident.[At the end of race or showtime events, you can save your results for offline events, or upload them in online events, to compare your handywork against others. Each street in the game has its own lap time record and showtime score to beat, which essentially turns every inch of asphalt in Paradise into its own mini-game.

then there is the other online aspects

The seamless uploading of times and scores for races and showtime events is really just a prelude to the third and potentially most rewarding method for playing Burnout Paradise: online multiplayer. Here, up to eight players can compete and cooperate in a variety of challenges. All online access is controlled with the directional pad. You can first invite friends to your multiplayer session by choosing them from a list. Once your pals are in the same session as you, you've got a lot of options. First of all, you can create races from scratch, choosing the start and end points, as well as setting any checkpoints you wish players to drive through along the way. You can also create multiple-race events, with each succeeding event taking a completely different route than the one prior.

Where things really get interesting online are the online challenges, which feature both competitive and cooperative play that opens up the world of Paradise in exciting new directions. There are seven sets of 50 challenges to take part in online, and the set of challenges available depend on the number of people online with you, resulting in a total of 350 online challenges available in the game. For example, though there is some overlap, the list of challenges available to four people online is slightly different than the list available to five or six, and so on. These challenges run from the relatively mundane, such as crashing into one another or meeting at a particular spot on the map, to the considerably more interesting, such as power-parking challenges (which judge you at your skill in parallel parking your car at top speed).

i think the demo doesn't really do justice with what the final game will show and the ability much like Test Drive Unlimited (also one of my fav games) to create ANY online race from ANY part of the MAP is a VAST improvement instead of using he same tracks over and over again on the old Burnout Revenge, making loads and loads of variation. Also the online challanges that get you and your friends all doing something together to obtain a challange is again great fun, even in the demo where you all meet up on the railway roof after jumping of the car park is great.

Anyway pre-ordered - for me this is a MUST have game

To be honest I don't care about online features. I'm sure in that respect it will be great, but I'm primarily a single player gamer, and like with so many games these days SP seems to be being pushed aside for MP features.

And as for the crash mode, the video posted in this thread already shows that the crash mode is crap.

Look, I'm not saying it's a bad game, because it isn't. It's enjoyable and fun as a game in it's own right, but as far as the Burnout series goes I prefer Revenge.

If I'm going to be honest, I agreet too.

I've played it for a bit, and I think it's a great game, but, it's not a Burnout game.

I'd been playing Revenge, in the runup to the release of the demo, and I much prefer that too. Such a shame. When I bought my PS3, I gave away my Burnout games, but kept Revenge, with the idea of giving that to a mate too, when I'd got the fancy, shiny new version.

I'll certainly be getting Burnout Paradise, as it does look like fun to play.
I'll doubtless play the single player side of the game the most, as I do with every game. I'm not an online game fan at all.

The fact that Revenge and previous iterations had the same tracks over and over was never a boring thing to me. In fact, when you got to a new track you had to learn it over and over, to get your skill up. That was fun. Know the track, massive drifting on every corner, blast the boost as you come out. The takedowns did feel somehow more satisfying, and I never got bored of it. Burnout, in the end, was the only reason I turned my PS2 on.

Before I went to purchase my PS3, I first checked that Burnout was coming to PS3, and that it wasn't going to be an XBOX360 exclusive. I don't generally let "one game" sway a purchasing decision, but this would've done it.

I've played a demo for an hour or so now, and for a second opinion, another Burnout fan mate came over yesterday afternoon for a long awaited look. He was disappointed with it.

He, like me, didn't like the fact that it isn't a set track. Instead of concentrating on the manic race, I was half concentrating on the map to see which junction I'd want to take.

I also wish, when you go to the map screen, and locate an event you want to participate in, or just click on a petrol station, or whatever, that some kind of guide would appear, like the age old big arrow at the top of the screen, instead of driving for a while, then checking your map again, essentially stopping the game, to see if you're headed in the right direction.

Now it sounds like I hate it, which also isn't true.
If it had come out, under a different name, like NFS: The Next Version, or Test Drive - even more unlimited, or even Tony Hawks gets a car, I'd have thought it brilliant.

As it happens, it is still good, and I will get it, but I'm just disappointed that my favourite racing game of all time, seems to have come to an end.
It hasn't evolved, it's died, and it's rebellious teenage son has run off in an entirely different direction.

V1N.

i didnt like Burnout previously

This demo is holding my attention, I just like the free-roam aspects in any game. I guess this is personal preference. I think its a brave and well executed move so far. Ill be buying it.

Just playing the demo now with a mate on PS3 and im loving it a lot...

Though I think there should be more damage to cars, stuff flying everywhere and some fire!!

If you get a good roll going on single player you can tear the car to pieces, and thats in the short time it allows you to crash (something that certainly bugs me). In crash/show time mode I imagine you can trash the car even further :D does need explosions though.

seems like nfsmw sort of structure not a good change of direction for me

crashes look smart but loses its insane barely controlable speed feel

could be the car just dont like the change of direction the gameplay took if you compare the two burnout demos on the 360 revenge blows it away for instant arcade action

hopefully they will have a arcade type old style of gameplay not into trying to find things on maps just want to drive fast and be amazed with the gfx and crashes

Another post about me reversal skills :p, had loads of fun last night, created another room, had a few players on who left but for most of the night had the same 3 ppl, was great fun, we did all the challenges then i started to show off, doing barrel rolls in reverse gear, so everyone else decided to do the same, was quite a laugh, espically when u take someone out when they are trying to do 1 and they chase you around as for buying the game, it could be a big maybe, wasnt that a big fan of the other burnouts.
