Burnount Paradise Demo next week?

The reason why you have to go back to the start is because of the lack of loading times.

As soon as the game starts, you're in the game. No menus, no loading between events, it's all there. The entire game is unlocked ready to play.

The old Crash Mode has been changed to "Showtime" where you have a challenge like "Get over 50,000 points of damage within 2mins" etc.

So is that gong to be anything like the old crash mode? If not I'm gutted, crash mode was one of my favourite features, and it would be awesome with the new crash physics and damage modeling :(

Kinda. At any point your press the two shoulder buttons and you go into "Crash Showtime" where you then start taking things out. Busses are the only multiplier, with all other vehicles been 'crashable' pending on boost/physics/etc.

Because Paradise City is an almost living city, you may find a crash you caused earlier has resulted in slow traffic, so you could potentially get to the back of the queue, activate Showtime and pile on through all the lined up vehicles. Again, all down to you.

*edit*

Looks utterly crap compared to the old crash mode. None of the awesome explosions, none of the skill in getting that perfect hit resulting in multiple pile-ups. Just rolling your wreck about hitting cars. It just looks stupid and retarded.

RIP Burnout :(

I LIKED THE OLD CRASH MODES :(

Looks like it could be fun with the sixaxis, but still not like the old mode, where you could restart and tweak each crash and score etc for hours!!

Yeah Mrs.Ino is deeply saddend by this, She loved the old crash mode on the 360, she spent hours on the damn thing.

Lets wait and see, you never know it might actually be ok when you play it for yourself.

Still very disappointed, I used to stay up for ages to try and get in the top 500 on the leaderboards in certain crash events. But I am crazy!! With this as you can do the "showtime" anywhere on the map, it won't offer the same level of competitiveness in terms of high scores imo.

The lack of the old-style crash mode is the biggest dissapointment of the game so far. 'Showtime' looks completely **** in comparison.

Absolutely gutted :(

I'm not 'getting' this game. What is it supposed to be? I've driven around and crashed into cars to go wow at the admittedly well done crash effects but that's about it.

It looks a bit Most Wanted with the 'sunny afternoon' palette. The radio DJ is annoying 'if you had the vision camera, we could take a picture, but you don't so you suck and god just killed a kitten'.

O dear!

You're all gonna hate the rest then aren't you?

Win a challenge - get a car!!!! Well, kinda. The car is now running around Paradise City and you have to take it down before you can get it. You not like?

The online challenges come in various sizes. 2 Player, 3 Player or 4 Player - and they're all different. Example, there's a 3 player challenge where you and 2 other racers need to go to the airport, take a ramp and each fly through a hoop. No?

The "ONLY" worry I have is the 'constant online' attribute. If EA reset their servers every Tuesday, does that mean we can't have MP action on a Tuesday while they're down?

I am new to the series. I remember my younger bro did have one iteration of it on the PS2 where he was continually just racing down a street and crashing into a junction of traffic for massive damage.

I haven't spent much time with it to be honest, so I'll give it another bash tonight.

It certainly ain't Burnout as it used to be thats for sure, but is that such a bad thing? I am not so sure, I got a bit bored of the whole Burnout thing after the 2nd game probably, so its nice to see them taking it in a new direction, will it work? well to me it seems great fun but then again I was not such a firm believer that Burnout was such a great game anyway.

J, you've got to admit, that 'showtime' crap looks like a ****-poor effort compared to the old crash mode.

Yes and No if I'll really honest.

Yes as in I will miss the, for example, challenge of seeing a HotDog stall at the top of a hill, tankers, buses and cars at the foot of a hill and picking which car to take me high enough to knock over the HotDog, down the hill, smash into the..... you get the rest. So yes, I will miss that because it was really good fun and was unquestionably addictive as hell and got you thinking how to tackle the problem.

But No because it will also be a good challenge in me bombing down a street at full pelt, quickly seeing about 30 cars, a bus and a few trucks and me thinking "Whoa!! That could be at least 30,000 points worth of damage there", reverse the car, go down the streeet and cause mayhem.

The video shows that as you hit concrete you lose boost, and if you lose boost, the ShowTime ends. So I imagine there's gonna be loads of talk about "How the hell did you manage 68k's worth of damage?" and then talks of where to get this, best intersections, etc, etc.

It *may* also be part of the package, similar to the old Crashes where there's a billboard to get but you'll only be able to get it if you're flying in the air in showtime because there are no ramps nearby to get air. Again, a huge sense of achievement and something definately a bit challenging.

The biggest disappointment for me is the traffic checking. I can understand why they've done it, but I don't really like the 50/50ness of a Wreck or Driveaway. I'm sure the finished produce will be a bit more polished, but for me, I wanna rear-end a car and smash it to pieces, not really worry if I'm hitting it at a certain speed and in a certain place to survive.
