Burnout Paradise - The Ultimate Box

I'm finding it a bit easy to begin with. I realise it will get more difficult as the game goes on, but it would have been nice if there were a difficulty option to increase the overall difficulty as well.

Also I'm finding it annoying that you have to keep an eye on the mini map all the time when you are racing or whatever. I preferred the old games where there was just one route leaving you to concentrate on the racing part. Difficulty wise this is no problem at the moment but I can see it getting more annoying as the game gets harder. Boosting in to oncoming traffic is hard enough as it is with out having to keep an eye on the map at the same time as well. :p

Otherwise I'm finding it ok at the moment. I have only been playing it for an hour or two, so I'm hoping the game gets better as I progress and get used to the new format.

The Party Pack made the starter cars slower and easier to drive. As for routes, your car's indicators flash in the direction you should go at each junction, and the road signs flash in the top middle of your screen. As you get nearer to the junction the sign gets closer to the middle, and a beeping sound increases in frequency. Also, you will soon learn the map, as in every open world game :)

Ah well good to hear then that the whole game shouldn't be too easy. :)

Haha I thought I was missing something. I remember seeing a message at the bottom of the screen I think about the road signs, but I was looking out for big ones in the middle of the road blocking off the wrong routes. After I realised they didn't exist I just thought the game was wrong and just used the map instead! :p

I'm at work at the moment though and will be tomorrow too so I won't get to play this too much for a while. :(

I'm very impressed with it! I installed the trial at 5am~ this morning and have played it for quite a while since :D
It does look the business, and the speed is very, well...speedy! :p
The menus are a bit of a pain, but other than that, it's all good. I do like the feel of the cars and the layout of the city is very good. The crashes are immense and always make me go
I've always been a Burnout fanboy and have owned nearly all of them on PS2 and PSP, I do kinda wish they'd do a high def version of the first game as, as flawed as it was, it was a very pure experience.

I've played the demo a few times now and i'm impressed with the quality of the port. A few gripes though:

Menus are annoying
Open-world gameplay distracts from the racing

I would have preferred them to port burnout 3 to PC instead! However, despite this, it's still a great game, runs very well and delivers exactly what it promises, great work Criterion!

Can't justify the cost yet, especially when i'm used to paying less than £20 for my PC games. I will be buying it though.

It's £25 from that place where all games are cheap ;)

Yeah, I folded and purchased it from there :p Just have to twiddle my thumbs whilst it arrives~ :D

What do people think of the multiplayer/online aspect ? I went on for a while, and thought it was very good, I got a real 'wow' moment when the time of day progressed (to presumably the hosts time) when i joined it

Criterion announced this on the ingame browser as premium DLC.

oh that'd be so awesome.. I loved playing the Midtown Madness cops and robbers - if Criterion could replicate that fun, I'll cry tears of joy!

loving the game so far.. especially the day/night/dawn transition.. driving around in the morning fog was rather atmospheric :)

I'm not able to check the in game browser myself at the moment, but will this Cops and Robbers game type be like that mode in Burnout 3? Was called team takedown or something if I recall correctly.

Im having the same problem.

On mine, its just showing my normal desktop on the 2nd screen.

Is it that you need one of the Matrox (Dual/Triplehead) adapters to enable multi monitor support?

Yeah same here, just shows the desktop on the 2nd screen and shows the 2 screens on the main screen, Stupid game:eek:

Yeah was thinking it might only work with a trplehead thingy??

I do have mine set to span.

The only resolutions you can select are the regular ones, none of the ultra widescreen ones. Within the game settings though, you can select the number of monitors you are using.

When set to two screens, the display which is working does look as though half of it is missing.

I am using Windows 7 though, will try in Vista/XP.

I have not read anything official from the developers which states how the multi-monitor support actually works. I will email them, see what they say.

Has it been announced if this is chargeable DLC?

I like the game but really dont like these micro transactions, well, especially for something like this which could have been included upon release. Maybe im just being grumpy.

I'm getting used to the open map and how the events are done now which is good. The next set of cars are also much better and they're only going to get faster!

I must admit that it does seem a bit repetitive to me as well. Maybe that might change as the game progresses but we'll see.

When i play online Road Rage, i always seem to get outmuscled by other peoples sports cars =/
Ive had a couple of head on collisions where i'm travelling at a faster speed (sometimes opponent is barely moving), and i'm using the upgraded krieger 616 (strength 5 i think) but the opponent is using some fancy looking sports car that i generally assume to have low strength. I'm the one who gets taken down.

Are the late game sports cars very high strength?

Also, someone fancy hosting a game? My upload isnt good enough for online hosting.
