Bye Bye BMW...

Do we see in black and white? NO.

Just think about what you post.

Exactly! OP said he likes the colour, explained his reasons behind it after I'd said I dislike the colour combo. I'm fine with that, so didn't bother replying. Then you, and others slated me for expressing my opinion.

Sorry for derailing OP.

I'm sorry but that has to be the most boring colour combination you could possibly think of. :(

The problem is the wording and the negative vibe about it.

How about the comment been along the lines of lovely car which it clearly is though the interior combination would not have been my choice.

This forum is most definatly not for negative opinions and views. So I disagree with you entirely.

No negative opinions?

Seriously?

How can the forum even work without negative opinions?

The OP wasn't offended or bothered. The thread moved on after the comments about colour choice. It's only turned into this because it's been decided its suddenly an issue. I dont get it!

Perhaps Nath was a little heavy handed in his wording. However I think Gibbo has hit the nail here.

I feel the problem is there are a lot of long term members here and we can all be guilty of it at times who treat the motors forum and even other sections as their own little personal club.

These forums grew so big because they are a place where people could come to chat and not worry about been attacked/insulted, but there are some members who really try those limits and have been allowed to do so.

Post should be constructive and polite, there is no need for negativity or been insultive towards members or their property.

The rules of this forum clearly dictate no personal insults/attacks but it has happened or got very close to it and gone un-noticed.

People need to think before posting, sly remarks, digs and insults need stamping out, simply if you have nothing constructive/positive to post then simply don't post.

Spie will be stepping up moderation simply because things have been far to relaxed now for sometime, so I suggest people do start thinking before taking jibs at people or posting rubbish/insults.

Does this mean that NathWrath is in the wrong for calling me an idiot then? No? Didn't think so.

The lax atmosphere of the Motors section is what made it so popular. Loads of long time members are dropping off now that the moderating is harsh...yet GD goes unpunished.

Anyway, enough derailment...OP...pictures! :D

Very nice choice. Been a huge fan of the XF since it was released.

I think the point you make on dealer service is an important one. If I was buying new or nearly new and had a bad experience with a dealer then the car in question would have to be significantly better than the opposition to keep me with the brand.

I'm still failing to see the insult or "dig" in this thread. GIR posted what he thought and that was that. It was hardly an attack on the OP.

And the way this forum behaves is both it's biggest advantage and it's biggest flaw. Yes, it seems hostile to so many new posters - but at the same time it weeds the crap straight out and discourages them from posting rubbish.

Yes he is in my oppinion, no one should be called an idiot for an opinnion.

But do you agree your oppinion could have been put across in a way that was worded in a way thats not such a negative vibe? I certainly think it could be. :)

Yep agreed but at the moment its too extreme, new members should have no fear of posting, things need to become less hostile and they clearly are because you yourself can see its too hostile to new comers, that needs to change and soon.

Jaguar have pushed the bar up with service, they are on a par with anything, no bad attitudes in our local dealer, they have given me umpteen cars for 24 and 48 hours, even knowing its a long shot i will buy a new one, but the offer is always there.

Strong product with good dealers, i really wish them well.

Well in the conspicuous absence of pics, I specced up a XF on the Jag website. The dash in piano black isn't as bland as it might sound, as it's apparently broken up by 'knurled aluminium'. It's not like some BMWs for example, where piano black also denotes the style of the dash inlay.

PS I've also seen no insults here, but what is amusing that when Fox sees a black M3 with an even darker interior, he's giddy, but if it's a Jag he's less keen ;).

"That is so, so beautiful.

Congratulations :)" I believe was how it went...strangely no mention of the dull combination :D.

We do get new members though, who become part of the furniture quickly. It's just those who post stories, backtrack, change their minds, and leave glaring plot holes that get called up.

This forum certainly moderates itself and behaves better than others - GC, GD, SA, and SC are all a lot worse than this one IMO.

In such circumstances I've no issue with that, the dreamers and liars need to put under the public spotlight and the truth known.

But the guy in this thread who just bought a lovely new fantastic car really does not need people making such negative comments. Want to be negative at least word it in a polite way.

I say conduct yourself on a forum as you would in person, that normally involves a certain degree of politeness and just because this is an internet forum it should really be no different.
