*******C.A.R.S - Community Assisted Race Sim*********

Folks, Ive not been following this thread so apologies if this has been answered already.

Is this going to be a steam based game or something else?
Ideally I would like to avoid getting this on DVD/media since, well, I don't have a DVD/BR drive!

It implies diddly squit. This was not a new release.

It is clearly implying that this is the last build... Are you reading the right Forum? It's even titled 'That's All Folks' and the first sentence is 'One last profile cleanup' again implying this is the final Build...

We've all got Steam keys from the developers and thats where they're pushing the updates through, so i presume its steam based, but then i stopped following development about 2yr ago as it seemed utterly pointless as the 'have a say in development' stopped at bug testing.

As for the DVD aspect, ive not had one for years either, but there are certain places you can go to download the DVD content. Ive done that plenty of times before when ive ordered a retail copy.

Are they going to open up the forums to new members when the game is released?

Be interesting to see if they lock or delete all the pre release threads that members have been using over the past couple years.

Just played this for the first time in ages and it's just got better and better over the last six months.

The Zakspeed Capri is an absolute joy to drive using a manual shift, clutch and heel toe braking.

Loads more cars and tracks than Assetto Corsa and the physics and FFB are very good.

The only downside for me is even with a GTX 970 I can only run on medium settings with triple screens. But at 1080p I can pretty much max it out.

Speaking about heel and toe, how easy is it? I use my left foot to engage the clutch, and right foot to brake/accelarate normally. Do you put your foot sideways and "flick" the two so to speak?

As you brake with toes of your right foot, you blip the throttle with the heal or side of your right foot before pressing the clutch with your left foot. There are plenty of videos on YouTube to give you an idea. After that it's just down to practice.

They have said there will be a 2nd game.

It will be crowd funded again, but not in the profit share way it was this time to avoid issues with the FSA.

I think the first game is good enough to sell well enough to warrant a sequel.

The sequel could be a year or more away, I haven't played this for a while just waiting for the final version and can't wait, it's an excellent racing game :)

If you've got a Tool pack on Steam, then the latest build is more or less the build that'll
be released. I reckon the console and retai PC version wil have a decent day one patch though.

As good as it is I still think it will get slaughtered on Release for the **** poor Gamepad Control it still suffers from, it's great with a Wheel but I can't believe how they've just hardly tried getting the Gamepad sorted out, other 'Sim' Racing Games have managed it.

Yeah, a Gamepad will never be as good as a Wheel unless you're some kind of alien but Project CARS hasn't even seemed to have tried making it OK with a Gamepad. I really hope I'm wrong (As I stand to make cash if it does well.. :p) but I really can't see it.

Have you tried some of the other gamepad modes within the controller settings? Mode 2/3 tend to be preferred by most.

I leave the game in Arcade mode (the middle "play style") when I'm using the 360 game pad. Yes I die inside that I have traction control on but it makes the game much more enjoyable that fighting the cars with the little analogue sticks.
