If you like sims, then both.

PCARS has more actual game and content. I think AC has the edge on looks and performance. As well as mod support and even more options because it's a PC only title. But that's because I drive with triple screens and AC has full support and I can max it out, more or less. PCARS looks great at 1080p, and I can max it out at that. But triple screens means I'm down to medium settings and low or no AA.

PCARS is more mainstream in terms of presentation, controller support, included cars and tracks.

Both have different FFB and physics, but they both feel very good to drive with a wheel.

If you just want to turn laps as sim racer with a wheel or race online then AC, if you want an actual game that's accessible to casual and sim racers then pCARS.

If want to race solely online on public servers then iRacing.

I was watching Youtube vids of this last night, even the sound of the Escort Cosworth made me grin like a madman. I think I'm going to really enjoy this one. Sounds seem pretty good overall, which is the main point in car games to me.

Meh I got banned and auto refunded just for saying the game is rubbish due to AI on eurogamer forums. Wasn't aware the team making the game were so over-sensitive. How about you make the game better and convince me rather than auto banning me from the game and force-refunding me my tool pack money, jesus not all investors are happy with the direction of their investments, you can't just kick us out because we hate the game at a certain moment in time.

Since then I chose off my own back to buy an account through a keysales forum to get back in and the game has improved a lot though I'm still not happy with it as a finished product even today. Quite simply there's something still not quite right with the AI - They are large in number in some events sure but they act with little care or attention to surroundings - maybe this is just a penalty of having so many AI but they are just as bad when there is less of them.

Banned for telling people how it is though? Way too overprotective - it's a driving game that is well known and will sell moderately well - maybe not as many units as Assetto Corsa but enough to break even I would hope.
 
I really don't get all the hate.

If it was anything like NFS Shift then I could understand all the PC sim community giving it a hard time. But even the first builds I played right at the beginning of development were pretty good. Yes there have been builds that have been rubbish and broken, but the game I played last week was great.

I can honestly say that if the game was as rubbish as some people make out then I would've had a refund by now. I've got more than enough rubbish in my Steam account without adding to it.

AI was absolutely dire the last time I played probably a year ago not long before they gave out steam keys

I sold my toolpack to someone on this forum and doubt I will buy the game again at release unless there's a demo so I can see if it's improved much.


If the graphics were pretty crap like Iracing standards then I question how popular the game would be

The driving physics didn't seem that bad but It never felt fun to me like other sims

Well, there's just a week to go and...I can't get it to run at all after this latest update, tries to load a track (Any Track) and crashes, I restart it and it's wiped out my profile every single time. Fun times. I think I'll wait for a 'Fix' Update before I bother trying it again.

They really need to make some way of disabling or switching off that annoying yank woman, whoever thought that would be 'Helpful' or a good idea needs stringing up and shooting.
 
Sad to see the usual hate from people who just didn't get the whole WMD concept. Welcomed into SMS virtual office then surprised to be booted for metaphorically stamping their feet demanding things be fixed without giving the devs anything useful in the way of feedback to work with.

Project Cars will do well, it's already top selling pre-order on some big sites, the trolls can go fish.

Barmyllama as usual a good level headed assessment. The thing is with all these sims everybody will have a preference and guess what people "it's fine" no need to hate any of them. I've played a lot of Cars and I love it, I find AC a little sterile in comparison and the FFB is too much for my liking. I don't hate it though. I still play Live for Speed occasionally, but I now prefer Project Cars, still love that game though. I can't do FPS games, I love driving games, pretty much most of them, even Eurotruck :)
