*******C.A.R.S - Community Assisted Race Sim*********

Turn down reflections and particles if you want to play in the rain otherwise get a high end card. It does look stunning when driving in the wet though.

Quite impressed at how well this is running on my near 4yr old rig with a 750gtx 1gig. I maxed the graphics to Ultra on everything bar grass/particles - AA high /SMAA at med, started up a race weekend and the game just runs silky smooth.

First impression are good, only used my xbox controller to test it but even that was responsive enough. Look forward to dusting the old G25 down and having a full on session after work tomorrow.

few quick screen shots, nothing spectacular but a distinct Shift look to them.

Quick first impressions.

I'm really, really impressed. After clicking a few buttons to have it set to my Fanatec wheel, pedals and shifter I made sure the graphics were maxed out and turned the helmet dof/movement on and I jumped in a few races.

FFB feels very good to me without any tweaking, I'm sure it can be improved but right out of the box it feels like I'm connected to the car.

Graphics are breathtaking. The immersion from the helmet view is wonderful and little touches like marshalling off the racing line and bits of rubber being flicked up are really great touches. I've only run it at 1080p so far, I'll try it on 3 monitors tomorrow but I really don't want to have to turn anything down in the options! At spa with a full grid I'm getting around 50-70fps maxed out.

My only concern so far is the AI. They seem to just drive like you're not there and will close the door on you or ram etc when they really shouldn't.

How on earth do I use the free cam..? I get it up with ctrl k but trying to zoom in, get an angle is impossible but it speeds up and goes mental. Tenkeyless keyboard btw..

Very impressed with how the game runs on my setup it feels super smooth:D

Loving bombing around Donington in the light rain in the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo2 DTM:cool: feels good with my DFGT wheel too.

No complaints so far loving it:D

Hadnt tried this much in the last 18mo, I did give it a go online with a friend around the time of the last delay announcement, and while the driving was fine, the AI i'd added into the session wrecked the grid before the red lights even came on, let alone gone off. The following lap i think the whole grid was wrecked down the s/f straight of Snetterton.

So i did the updates tonight, figured i'd try the campaign mode type mode, and its pretty good. However, every single session i get a black fade-in...fade-out. I'd say its somewhere between 0.75-1.0 sec long, and thats an eternity when its anywhere except on a straight, and of course its always mid corner or just into the turn-in point. Its horrific.

I'll try and record a session, however i'll need to dial down the settings to do so and i cba doing anything but finish this season off for now (so its enjoyable - just makes you want to punch the screen every single session - last one it happened twice on the last lap, at the braking point of T1 at the new Silverstone layout - nightmare! and just before braking at the end of hangar straight - not too bad.)
I've done 3 races so far (clio's at Donny, Snett & Silv) and i've done the practice, qual and both races and its always present.

ThereIsOnlyOne, more pictures of your rig are needed! That looks ace!

Thanks Skeeter. I have a couple of walk-around videos:

Hopefully my LE copy arrives tomorrow. Unfortunately, I have just seen over on the benchmark thread that AMD cards are not running the game as well as Nvidia cards. A GTX 660 has benched better than a 290X.

If I have to, I'll go back to Nvidia...

I was playing Junior builds up till yesterday morning on a 6970 without problem.

Not sure what the problem is?

I've had to pit for suspension damage a few times but they're harder knocks. It doesn't feel too forgiving but I've not had a race ending crash yet.

Having problems with rivatuner, fraps and steam fps counter not working in game. when using fraps project cars doesn't load up, using rivatuner the overlay disappears off screen and the steam fps counter doesn't work.

any help would be appreciated.
