*******C.A.R.S - Community Assisted Race Sim*********

Interesting review (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtvFNKmS3qs&list=WL&index=34)

What do you guys think of his opinions?

I generally agree with a lot of what he says, although he seems to be increasingly positioning himself as the voice of the sim community and taking himself a bit seriously.

As for his review of this game, I think it's fairly accurate. Quite surprised that he tackled the issue of poor AI without mentioning that the game is riddled with bugs.

The AI is not the best although not sure exactly what the problem is though. My experience is that they either hog the racing line, even if you are already on it and if you get in the way, the move you, sometimes. Or, they open a door when overtaking when there is not even a doorway.

They are very predictably unpredictable.

Race 07 has superb AI in my opinion, you can actually race against them and they race against you.

It's a shame he says the road cars are rubbish and rain driving in unrealistic. i disagree about his AI comments. I have it at 40% and still always come last! It's a shame it hasnt lived up to all the hype but I'm quite enjoying it so far.

It is not so much about the pure "skill" of ai as in "where they finish", more the manner of the how they do it which is the problem.

Tempted by a wheel now. Was struggling with controller last night

I had a g25 for gt5 but didnt use it a lot, maybe dues to the game and not having a proper place to sit the wheel

Is it really worth it? It could open me up to more racers too? G27 or something else

ai jumps in and out of the way like nervous wrecks even if it means they jump on to the grass

Just get a DFGT and dirt rally with it :D

Hmmm I would say he is completely correct about the AI. As he says, they do hit you from behind and go for gaps that are not there. Their slow cornering speed coupled with their inability to react to a car being close to them is a massive issue. I think he is correct about the AI difficulty being too easy - though he is probably pretty handy in these games. In qualifying with AI at 80%, I usually beat the 2nd place car by a second or more on my 2nd or 3rd lap, in a car I don't know, on a new circuit.

But that same AI difficulty in a race would be utterly frustrating as you have to deal with them crashing into to you.

Dirt rally good then?

What wheels do you all use, is the DFGT a good choice? I want ffb if im getting one :D

Do any of you use wheel stands or just have it at your desks? Im probably going to play through the tv so would need some sort of solution. Have a Poang ikea chair which feels spot on for this

DFGT is like the best starter wheel

gt25/27 are better but you already sold one so you might be tempted to again.

plenty of people use DFGT wheels though.
Dirt rally is most excellent but not forgiving, has a great feel to it once you adjust to the brutal realism though

It was years ago mind, only sold it because i wasnt really using it enough so i think i could go for one again if the games are good for it, i wouldnt want to lose the ffb that the g25 had but i see the dfgt has ffb too

I am tempted but yea would need a few more games aswell! Shouldnt buy it just for this! So dirt and maybe AC :P

I had the G25 for years and great wheel, then sold it as was not useing it, then i got a DFGT and am more than happy with it, i love the FFB it has as well, best of the budget range for sure.

Sounds like the same situation then :D will look into the DFGT now. does the wheel have good support across all the new games?
