*******C.A.R.S - Community Assisted Race Sim*********

I know visually this is head and shoulder above the rest, but in all honesty I never really have fun when playing it. When I set up my wheel (G27) and want to play a racing game, I seem to keep going back to the simbin race series.
I do realise that the cars is still in alpha and is not representative of the finished game, but the force feedback and fun factor is just not there yet in my opinion. When I finish playing a simbin race game and load up cars, it just feels disappointing to me.
I think feels is the important word, because graphically is stunning and I love the car models and tracks that they have so far.
I think the game has great potential, but at the moment it's just not hooking me in the way that a 5 year old simbin game is.

I think the FFB is far more detailed than previous SimBin games. I don't know if that's down to the game or the fact I'm using a T500 RS steering wheel.

tbh i think they going over board with the handling

a few builds ago it was absolutley stunning then tweaked again and again to the point i just uninstalled the game

keep it simple and something that works easily and simple

because you wanted arcade like the btm handling model and not the realism of seta?

a lot of people are crying on the forum because the cars dont have silly arcade grip levels any more and you cant just full throttle out of a corner

but the force feedback and fun factor is just not there yet in my opinion
a lot of the force feedback effects were turned off whilst they try to get the core feedback so you can feel what the car is doing.

im pretty sure they didnt turn all the effects back on yet
Have SMS ever gone into detail about the damage model? For a game with such high quality visuals it would be really distracting to see body parts just fall off on collision like somebody forgot to weld them on. I'd love to see some deformation, it'd make a world of difference.
I'm not sure whats planned the damage model is very basic right now but its obvious they are working on it as i've noticed doors swinging open/shut and stuff in the newer builds.

most stuff is basic as you say though and parts just drop off with no real animation yet

I'm fairly interested in this and just wondering if it's worth getting in on it early or just waiting for release? Got a bit of a backlog of games so might not really play it until sometime next year anyway.

Also how is driving using a 360 pad because I don't have a wheel (... yet :P)

wont be many more chances to "get in" as the funding is almost at its target.

no release until likely Q4 next year so it might be worth just getting the cheapest package

i dont want a arcade racer  the steering was very good then they tweaked the ffb and it all went to hell

wheel shakes uncontrolable before even setting off whats that about ? spinning out at 15 mph on a not slippy track all well documented please dont say its cause i like arcade steering as thats dumb ! i just preferred the build before the one that changed a lot of it. it wasnt just me there were very big threads on the site about it.

sometimes you reach a optimal great point in a game and you should just say hey this is really working well stop ! not add other features that make it less . in my honest op that is what happened.

will reinstall later and try again with steering wheel.

you can change the ffb profile yourself with the ffb tweaker or use someone elses from the ffb tweaker thread

Low grip at slow speed is listed as a known issue.
Wheel vibration at the start of a race is listed as a known issue.

Tyre model is far from finishing all of the tyre models features arent in yet only like 3 of 31 parameters i believe the guy said.

The handling will ofcourse change and need tweaking as these get enabled and the default setups are far from perfect which is why theres a setup competition going
ooo, does cheapest get multiplayer?
no but the one below "full member" does but i cant remember what its called.
its probably around 20euros so about £15

less than 100k funding to go btw and looking at the funding graph it will probably be fully funded and all toolpacks locked by mon-weds next week

New build is out with the capri in it :D

I've not tested it yet but I noticed a mssage in the physics forum or wherever it was saying only the FA and capri had there own tyres so far, every other car is using FA compounds

Cheers arknor, will get it at the weekend.

3,670,560 € raised so far of 3,750,000 budget

you dont need to be the fastest just set a time with that car/track combination on the scoreboard and you will be entered.
