C63 AMG / M3 / RS4

Im pretty sure that last yr top gear did a test between all 3 and the M3 was the one that came out on top.

Personally i love all 3 but based on what i have seen and read id say the M3 for me...the RS4 is a good car but the coking problems that afflict it would rule it out...wonder if Audi have managed to fix that issue??..my brother reckons they have. The C63 has massive amounts of torque but it seems like it cant use it very well...love the looks of it though.

The M3 will always have a soft spot in my heart...something about it that i just love...probably due to the fact that ive driven my bro's M3 in Canada quite extensively and always enjoyed driving it...he has a 2008 model convertible dinan tuned to CSL spec with an awesome exhaust note.

For me there's def something more special about the C63 than the other two, so that's the one I would want to own first if my budget was limitless.

As I don't have such a budget I think I would opt for the Audi out of the three - I think the fit and finish of the car will be better (although I hear the suspension sufffers from the same issues as teh old RS6), it's much cheaper plus the all weather driving ability is a big plus point. Especially for me considering most of the NE of Scotland is under water atm. My A4 quattro keeps me firmly planted and I don't think I would want to give that feeling up.

If I was going to spend more than a good RS4 and wanted something reasonably special, I would probably buy a nearly new 997 C4s - a similar price to a nearly new C63/M3, but it would hold more of its value over a couplde of years - I think this is what I intend to do next summer.

Says the man with a daily S-class for pootling around in :p

Use heart not head :D

The C63's engine has almost 50% additional capacity to mine! :D

(Note that i did say that i would have the merc, and tbh it wouldn't even be a close call. While a lot of reviews may show the M3 as being on par if not technically faster round a track or whatnot, its not even half the all round car that the C63 is).

1.4 mile

C63 - 12.9 seconds @ 116.4mph
RS6 - 12.8 seconds @ 114 mph

I find those times....slow ? The driving must not have been great, but the power really shows with such high speeds across the line. I'd expect cars doing over 110mph on the 1/4 to be putting at least mid to low 12s..

And for what it's worth I've never had the pleasure to drive any of the above cars, but I'd probably have the C63, generally don't like M3s too much, and the RS4 is not as fast as it should be, I think.

they dont have the benefit of 4x4 to artificially massage their 1/4 mile times like subarus and evos ;)

600bhp Supercharged VXR8s struggle to get much below 13 seconds as well.

Even the supercharged corvette ZR1 with 600bhp and tyres the size of texas struggle to break into the 10s stock.

The RS6 has 4x4... and both cars will easily beat me to 60, they do it in 4.4sec according to your figures? So where are they losing time but gaining speed?

To break into the 10s is something stupidly fast, heck even 11s and low 12s is stupid fast. But I'd expect a lot more from the listed cars..

The M3 will always have a soft spot in my heart...something about it that i just love...probably due to the fact that ive driven my bro's M3 in Canada quite extensively and always enjoyed driving it...he has a 2008 model convertible dinan tuned to CSL spec with an awesome exhaust note.

2008 would make it an E92 i guess, how can that be tuned to 'CSL' spec if so?

If it were my money I'd probably choose RS4 from the options listed, if the M3 is an E46. The Merc would depreciate too much so that's out (it's a bit too wild to keep under control too. Their TC system wasn't very good last time I tried it) so that leaves the BMW and the Audi.
If you're talking about the newer M3 (E92?) then that would be my choice, as the E46 isn't any better than the RS4 IMHO plus it has a major image problem AND there are tons of them so residuals are not as good as the RS Audis.
If it's the E46 M3 then I'd go with the RS4 every time.

Not a single pic? :D

Based on looks and presence alone the C63 without a doubt, look at the monster straight cut lines and corners...it just screams "gtfo my way mannnnnnnn"
