C63 AMG / M3 / RS4

The RS6 has 4x4... and both cars will easily beat me to 60, they do it in 4.4sec according to your figures? So where are they losing time but gaining speed?

To break into the 10s is something stupidly fast, heck even 11s and low 12s is stupid fast. But I'd expect a lot more from the listed cars..

RS6 is over 2 tonnes, thats why thats got a poor 1/4 mile.

C63 just doesnt have big enough tyres over the rear wheels or any weight to get good launches

same problem with the VXR8

Buuuuuuut... they can both get off the line faster than a scooby like mine with 4.4 sec to 60's so like I say, I think whoever set those times needs to learn to drive as I believe they're capable of much better times.

You are getting pretty sensationalist these days, what makes a C63 twice the 'all round' car of the M3?

I'm not, my tastes and expectations in cars is just shifting. While both impressive performers the Merc also offers refinement and luxury - to an extent. The M3 doesn't offer these things if we are comparing them on a level playing field.

So for me, the Merc is by far the better car.

What refinements and luxury does the C63 have over the M3? Apart form having to go round corners at half the speed that is? :D

Go and sit in both of them. The BMW is an amazing car, but its interior and ride quality is short of that offered by the Merc. This is not an insult to the BMW, they are just different cars of which i have a strong preference.

The seats in the C63 walk all over the M3s seats for a start

and they look awesome with true carbon fibre shellbacks

I'm really not sure it does - it's an extreme C Class and not an S Class. Ride quality was not on the engineers breif and many comment that its pretty hardcore for a C Class.

I think you are way off the mark here. You see the Mercedes badge and make assumptions.

I really like the interior of the previous E Class but cant help thinking Mercs newer interiors, asthetically (Not build wise as build is spot on) remind me of Vauxhalls

I see this everytime with that centre dashboard, just looks so much like the Vectra C!

2008 would make it an E92 i guess, how can that be tuned to 'CSL' spec if so?

I have no idea tbh as i dont own the car, my brother does and he got it from the BMW dealership Budds BMW as seen in the pic below...it was owned by the guy who actually owns the dealership...its a convertible but not the new shape.

As far as we were aware and told...even have the paperwork supplied...that the M3 was tuned by Dinan and was putting out about 360bhp...you cant get CSL's in Canada as they wouldnt pass the emission testing from what my brother was told...its been chipped obviously and has a Dinan strut brace in the engine bay...it has has a ceramic exhaust system so has a much more sweeter exhaust note...in fact its a lovely roar now...and it has an K&N induction air filter to round off the sound.

The car is scary...i know it definitely has much more power than your standard M3...not the V8 though as ive driven the M3 myself...we even took the new M3 out as hes pretty close to one of the guys there and honestly compared to his M3 i didnt feel all that impressed...it was far too smooth compared to the roughness of his M3...but then i guess you would expect that from a V8...engine sound is lovely though...nothing can beat the noise of the V8.

Some pics of his car when i was there last summer:

That's an E46, they were discontinued in 2006. You sure its a 2008? Americans and Canadians don't refer to cars based on registration year either, its all 'Model Year'. The last E46 M3 was an MY2006. There was no MY2008 E46?

Whatever it is, it looks great!

You go ahead and think that. I don't think i am. Taking the comment of "half the car" is taking it too literally and is obviously not how that was meant, but my preference for the reasons stated lies with the Mercedes. It is the better all round car.

Hmmm maybe your right...he bought it in 2008 so going by what your saying..your probably right as it might very well be 2006 if the owner had it for a few yrs...ill have to check with my bro though...i know he bought it in Jan 2008...the car was in mint condition with 20k miles on it...even got them to shove the CSL wheels on it as originally they werent willing to:p.

I have been in 4 E92 M3's. Wouldn't say there's much in the interior (albeit I've only ever looked through the window of a C63) but I'd be gobsmacked if the C63 has a better ride than an EDC equipped M3, which most are.

Guess it's all down to personal preference.

Wrong again Fox, you're losing your touch :D

There E46 M3 Coupe was made until May 2006 but the Cabriolet went into early 2007.
