Can a vegan diet make me strong. Let's find out.

May I recommend the 80/10/10 book by Douglas Graham, Dr. Neal Barnard's Program for Reversing Diabetes and The Starch Solution by John Mcdougal. You guys have got to be kidding me if you think you aren't killing yourselves.

:p

It's ok, because when your in a survival situation you'll be ****ed. Your ok just now, because you have the internet though.

We're all going to die, you must be kidding yourself if you think I'm cutting out all the best bit of my diet so I can possibly spend a year or 2 more sat in a nursing home smelling of my own pee.

LOL go buy some steroids then if that's your mentality! Take all the steroids you can buy! Then you can have shoulders like bowling balls ;) Who cares about your health because you'll die anyways.

Steroids are popular with that crowd of thinking. It's sad cause' they stand for nothing and I see them all around me. I'm tired of it.

My gym partner is thinking about taking steroids now. Doesn't make you a bad person but if people are going to use steroids use them for something meaningful, like promoting good things. Don't just use them so you can walk around saying LOOK AT ******* ME MAN, TRENBOLONE BICEPS". Do it for a cause. Greater than your muscles in the ******* mirror. I see so many guys lifting to impress. Girls want guys with confidence and that are funny and good listeners. Aesthetics is a bonus.

Lifting weights is great but I was starting to base my whole confidence around it and there's a better crowd out there to promote a vegan diet to. Most lifters don't give a **** about their own health let alone animals.

I'm moving onto something else instead of lifting. I need to change it up and I've got new athletic goals for 2014.
I'll still be lifting because I enjoy it and it's important to be strong. Just not three times a week.

When I first got into it I was a noob and didn't know what went on behind the scenes. It just doesn't appeal to me that way anymore. I was making some good gains (88.5kg bench now) but I'd rather be putting my time into other things.

There's a vegan group ERVegans in my city and we're starting up a running team to partake in running races and marathons around the UK for 2014. It's going to be awesome and a great way to promote veganism.

I'll be checking in on some of the logs here and hanging out because i'm not quitting weight lifting altogether.

Not sure what you mean by behind the scenes, as there are many here not on steroids and making awesome progress along with living an active healthy lifestyle, weightlifting is what you make of it.

Freefaller - LOL look at my original stats man.

Squat - 50kg
Deadlift - 80kg
Bench - 40kg
OHP - 40kg
Penlay Rows - 50kg

Here's what I gained

Squat - 100+kg
Deadlift - 140kg
Bench - 88kg
OHP - 52.5kg
Penlay Rows - 72.5kg

I DOUBLED my squat and bench lifts all on a vegan diet in under six months and there's loads of room for more. I just won't be injecting insulin in my ass cheeks to get there. My stat lifting progression is pretty respectable compared to some other's logs in here all living on standard diets. So yes a vegan diet can make you strong, lean and healthy as ****. I did it all vegan no supplements or stimulants without shoving animals in the oven. :p

Delvis - I mean when I first started look at my goals, I wanted big goals for promoting, not average ones. Millions of people are doing steroids in 2013. I'd rather be doing something else. To get noticed in weightlifting you have to do roids, it's just how it is.

Gonna chow down on 3 of these tonight (2 without cheese) (3500 calories).

Vegan cheese from Tesco, give it a try.

No thanks I don't eat poor quality foods (i.e. refined processed foods).

Enjoy it though.

Oh and lots of people have doubled their lifts in the same period of time NOT on a vegan diet as well - so the vegan diet isn't special. And you're not strong yet.

Oh, I have pretty decent shoulders already.

Don't be that guy, there's a difference between me not wanting to live my life on a diet I'd hate removing one of life's little pleasures because I enjoy good food so I can suffer through an extra few years of life and me pumping in syringes full of AAS.
If you want to live a boring, plain, poor excuse for a life but live longer then crack on.
I'm very much of the "I'm going to die one day never mind what I do" mindset, it doesn't mean I'm a reckless idiot.
Good luck on your marathon running goals, it's something I'd like to do one day so I can tick it off my list.

Nate gets his advice from an utter troglodyte who goes by the name of durianrider on YouTube. The guy is a mental case and smack talks people for no reasonable explanation.

Stop listening to him, he doesn't have a clue, his aim seems to be to cause as much agro as he can.

Also stop with the promotion of veganism. That's the sort of crap that makes vegans in general a disliked group of people.

LOL if you eat any type of dairy you're a hypocrite. Dairy is all man made processed food. This pizza is just a back up plan I usually don't have it with cheese on as I don't rate it myself, it's too greasy.

Fruits and veggies first, they're the best then starches. If I had my 30 banana smoothie today I wouldn't even crave or fit the pizzas in me.

Well why are the people in nursing homes there if eating meat turns you into superman? I just proved you don't need to eat meat. The vegan diet is special it's the only unique diet in the world because it's the only diet that doesn't contain animal products. The rest are the same diet.

Psymonkee - LOL Dr Atkins (RIP), Sally Falon, Robert Lustig, Lauren Conrad, what do all the low carb diet promoters have in common? They're all overweight cause they got high insulin and fat. What do all the high carb promoters have in common? Lean trim, regardless of fitness levels.

I'm sure there's plenty of vegans in nursing homes as well (that may be a lie they probably don't live long enough) and no one's claimed meat turns you into superman and there's plenty of lean low carbers but there's probably no fat vegans to be fair because you're all malnutritioned.

Doubtful they all die before that stage...
