Can my GM stop me from buying stock from the store??

My Macbook lasts far more than 2 hours on battery, more like 4-5 (mind you it is the third battery it's had).

Well, during the Pentium M era, 4 was considered average or below average. With a single 9-cell you'd get 8 hours odd (like the IBM T4x range for example). A multibay or second battery bay would give you more than 12 hours on a charge.

Just ask your GM if you can roll a D20 on it and if you get less than 10 you get to shove an IPOD with +9 to rectal intrusion up his arris. However if you roll greater than 10 you get to buy your macbook and wonder why later.

Suck it up and deal with it mate.

Next time he is desperate for some overtime over Christmas or something, tell him to wait until next year and ask you then.

Can't understand why some managers have problems giving out the *few* perks that come with working in retail. Must be a bullied at school thing.

Saying that, I just used to buy stock if I wanted it when I worked on the electrical department in a supermarket. Sod asking, I ordered the stuff in, took delivery of it, sorted it, and shelved it. I think i'm entitled to buy the ****ing thing after all that.

Whilst running vid/photo editing I'd expect it to be a fair bit shorter though

It wouldnt matter if there is more coming in, if he's going to buy one at some point, then it makes no odds.

So few people understand this and seem to think the electronics market is a perfect one.

With the ultraportable laptops from Sony and the like you get around 12 hours.

That is exactly what Im going to do - Im always bending over backwards helping them out, no more...

And I know people are thinking "jesus - its only a laptop!" , but thats not the point anymore. To be quite fair I wont be able to go on it for quite a while, but its the damn cheek of him to get someone to tell me to buy it next week. Cant even do me the one favor - he can go **** a horse...a massive horse.

those were good times.

now i've got this Core2Duo toshiba pos which only lasts 2 hours!

That too ^^. Can get a better spec'd Dell for half the price.

Thats like saying, don't buy a car, you can get a golden shovel for less.
They're both good at completely different things, a car would be good for getting places but not so good for digging a hole.
Macs have their uses, music/ video editing mainly, I use macs for logic pro 8.

And after using a mac for ages and going back to a less aesthetically pleasing pc isn't so fun.

Also, why would ANYONE buy a dell, build a pc out of the cheapest parts, stick a plasticy casing on, maybe one good part and a big cheap monitor and sell to morons.

Threaten to complain to his superior :D

Remember the D&D/FF/Roleplay tabletop gamers who always used to get picked on at school ? Well now they've grown up, got internet access and developed mac related humour ;)

indeed, I learnt at second year at uni what a 'd20' was, After asking someone why the hell they were calling dice a 'd6', and someone then pointed out that one had a 'd6' with a hole drilled through it on a piece of string around his neck.. 'hardcore'.. '***'

I think most peoples computers here cost more than macs...

But I thought Macs were mega overpriced and a world-beating gaming rig only costs £7.42 to build?

Regardless, it's more the BAWWWWWWWWWW MACS ARE GHEY attitude in these threads that amuses me, I completely understand why anyone with more than a passing interest in PC gaming would and should steer well clear.

I just love the bile and venom from poor people, mostly
