Can YOU max out every game?

At the moment, yeah just about.

Thats with an i7, 6gb ram and a 5870 at 1920x1080

Only game I've seen it really drop framerates in was metro 2033 and crysis with high AA

Although both of those games force a method of AA anyway on some of the effects/environment, destroying performance.

Now that I have crossfire 5870's, I am maxing out almost every game I own and am hoping I can do the same with future titles.

The only game that I still have a problem with is the obvious, Crysis.

Almost. Some games i turn shadows down if really needed but most of the time i set everything high ingames and most games it plays decently.

The games that I play regularly I can, but those are somewhat old titles. Metro 2033 really brought my machine to its knees and that was played on low at native 1080p resolution, still looked gorgeous mind.

Audiosurf is awesome :D

I can play most games on max settings - though haven't tried Crysis on this machine yet - usual i7 920/6GB RAM/5870.

Nope.
I'm currently on pentium 4 and Nvidia 6800, not doing too badly considering.

On the orange box games, I can get pretty close to full settings on 1280x1024 while still maintaining 30fps, which can drop to 10 during intense scenes

I can on the rig below including crysis. My monitors native resolution is only 1680*1050 which is not that demanding.

I have not tried metro 2033, I beleive thats more demanding than most.

Having made do with a p4 and a x1800xt until a year a go it is great installing everygame it automatically detecting highest settings everytime.

Oh, I tell a lie I can't run GTA4 in max buts that is shockingly optimised so i will pretend it doesn't exist.

Nowadays the average I expect from a game is high with some on medium, and the bells and whistles turned off (AO, Physx), AA off or on x2/x4, and at 1920x1200. That's with recent games. I'm very happy with that considering my card is 2 years old, it's lasting well.

On my current monitor yes, when i get my 1080p one next week... thats a different story :p.

My samsung 22inch 1080p monitor is the best and worst upgrade I've ever bought due to the same reason lol.

I went from a 17inch tft where my 8800GT could play everything really well, even crysis then gave it over twice the amount of pixels to play with and had to upgrade my entire PC to handle it :(

I can run pretty much everything at max settings 1080p. Only one i have trouble with is Burnout paradise if i enable something to do with enhancing 3d? the game chuggs like crazy........

Nope, newest games usually a mix of medium and high settings, or simply accept lower fps in the 30-40's. 1080p and a GTX260...

i run every game on max at 1920x1200

getting metro 2033 soon, so ill see how well it does with that.

this is with a GTX480

Will be interesting to see what your experience is as depth of field and tesselation on a 5870 destroy the framerate to a slideshow.
