Canadian Grand Prix 2014, Montréal - Race 7/19

Just asked Rosberg for his lottery numbers. Pretty sure we're on for the jackpot.

On the topic of G.

The British Formula One racer David Purley crashed in 1977, his car going from 173 km/h (107 mph) to 0 in only 66 cm (two feet) (which means he hit a wall and the car structure compressed to decelerate him). He broke many bones, but survived. This deceleration of 178 g is believed to be the highest ever survived by a human being.

Dunno how he didn't get a penalty for setting the fastest lap of the race (and keeping a position) buy straightlining a chicane.

Did it actually end up as the fastest lap of the race in the end?

Hilarious - so the fastest lap of the race wasn't actually a full lap at all. Says it all really

What a corking race. Rosberg did fantastically well to hold on to second, although aided by Perez. Force India did brilliantly despite being robbed of 4th by Massa (who also drove a great race) and what a cracking last minute move by Button.

And Ricciardo - first win and again put his multi-championship winning teammate in the shade.

Gutted for Hamilton and Perez; both deserved strong results from this race. I have some sympathy for Massa too although he caused his own accident whereas the other's suffered beyond their control.

On the Rosberg corner cut, I think it was the right call. A 5-second penalty would have been harsh given it was a one off and it probably wouldn't have changed the overall race result if it wasn't for the later technical failures.

I am absolutely gutted that Perez didn't get on the podium here, but... What a race!

Entertained start to finish. A large smile appeared on my face when both those Mercs had issues. A real shame for Rosberg and Hamilton, not their fault, but we all know that car will be the lead car for the rest of the season.
Nico did well to drive round the issue, I guess got lucky by the Red Bulls not being able to overtake a slowing Perez.

So much beer was spilled whilst cheering on Ricciardo, Perez, Massa and anyone else I thought had a chance...
The last 20 odd laps I spent moving between the edge of my seat and pacing about.
Was disappointed with how Massa and Perez ended, but in fairness I'd been saying Massa should just go all out, race win or nothing for a good few laps. He did exactly what I had been asking! Happy to see that they are both ok after such a massive accident. :)

Terrible race for Lotus. They need to sort themselves out, ASAP.
Ferrari... Sigh. It's another painful season as an Alonso fan. And WTF with Kimis repeat spins at the hairpin!?

Really never thought I'd see myself cheering at a Red Bull victory, but today showed me good. Hell, I was even happy for Vettel!
Well done Ricciardo! God bless you Canada.
