I still don't understand why Vettel reacted the way he did.
It's understandable if he did one of the things he did (like storm off to the motor home) but it went from an emotional reaction to a continued effort and a statement.
Because the truth is Mercedes are stronger at downforce tracks but Ferrari are stronger at power tracks. This was where they should have been finishing 1-2 and starting to claw back on Mercedes, and with 5-6 other tracks at least that favour power, and updates, they could have been in a fight come the end of the season, but once again another huge Vettel mistake and poor decision has led to Vettel throwing away another win. Two seasons in a row Vettel was within a few points or had a lead when Vettel mistakes allowed Hamilton to sail off into the distance.
Vettel has managed to turn another mistake, another lost win and ever increasing Ferrari disappointment into him into "the win was stolen from me, I'm the victim" instead. He changed the narrative and even has thousands of fans saying F1 is dead, unfair penalties, it's changed, not the F1 I love. Senna, Lauda, Prost, they all got penalties, Senna had a title taken away (in effect) absolutely unfairly. This penalty was absolutely fair with some dangerous driving after another massive mistake.
Instead of a fanbase being utterly fed up with Seb and talking about how Ferrari need to get rid of him, need to start favouring Leclerc now, they are defending Ferrari and saying F1 is to blame for a mistake and choices Seb made.
I personally think that means Seb is further compounding another massive mistake and could be considered to be bringing the sport into disrepute. He's literally attacking F1 and causing a reaction where lots of fans are saying why bother watching, to absolve himself of a mistake. Lost an awful lot of respect for Vettel this weekend as a person. Driving wise, he's been a guy who buckles under the pressure badly for a while, but the reaction to it has been pathetic.
