Canon 7D mk2 Thread

No way will I have that for that price.
That's 1k over the 70d

It'll be significantly more than the 70D. The 7D2 will be to the 70D what the 5D3 is to the 6D. Basic image quality will likely be very similar but, if you want the better AF and other features, you're going to have to pay for it.

l QUOTE=Phal;26887311]I'm not sure they'd have a £4-5k lens as a kit option :D But there is a new 400mm DO mk2 lens being announced apparently so maybe that's what you saw? :)[/QUOTE]

Yes, that's what I meant!

Yeah I never saw the appear personally because the whole price/image quality ratio didn't seem quite right to me. I don't see a mk2 being cheaper so I guess it'll be sharper?

It seems like that lens that was being discussed a few days ago (forgot what it was) that doesn't sit anywhere

II'd sooner get a used better lens than this
That's unless it's amazing.

Well a 300mm f/2.8 IS II with a 1.4x has better IQ than the current 400mm DO and also does f/2.8 at 300mm. Quite why anyone would buy the 400mm is beyond me.

If I didn't have the 120-300mm that's what I would have
300mm 2.8 + 1.4x

Better in every way as you say

The 6D is a totally different camera and market. The 7D crop sensor is titled towards sports and action - 10fps, 65 AF points and fast AF. The 6D is portrait, weddings and studio focused - slower fps, full frame, 9 AF points and a lower spec AF.
Therefore I think the 7D will be closer to £2k than £1.5k.

I really like my 7D and I am sure canon will market the 7D2 at apx £1500 !
My 7D is used for holiday, sports, scenery, and the noise is of some concern to me. However the rest of the spec is very good compared to the compared competition at the time of purchase.

I will wait till a while afer the 7D2 comes out and hopefully the price will star to settle down.

mrgubby made an excellent comment 'If they improve the noise performance I'll happily sell my old 7D + wife to get one (she's very noisy as well) ;)

I agree my wife is the same ! lol ;):D

Yep. The 7D2 is effectively the crop version of the 5D3. The tiers will go like this, from the top down:

1DX
5D3/7D2
6D/70D

Are Canon planning on any 36-40MP sensor cameras soon?

The have tested various 32-56MP cameras over the last years, these have been confirmed to have been tested in the wild (internally they have t was tested 100MP sensors). When the D800 was released there were strong rumours of a 40+MP canon 3D but for some reason that didn't materialize. I guess that their sensors still didn't have the DR of the competition and they figured people would just buy a D800 anyway if that is what they wanted.

Now it is just a question of do they release a high resolution 3D now or wait 2 years and have the 5dmk4 come our with a 42+ MP sensor.
