Captain's of crush ordered, forearm training begins!!

Yeah grip definately helps. First time I started using chalk my lifts shot up! I don't like using straps though, they don't help as much as gripping the bar yourself. Can't use chalk in this poncy new gym I've been forced to join :(

Though I've just got some liquid chalk this weekend so will test it out next week, they can't stop me using that :)

That liquid chalk sounds interesting, could you let us know how you get on with it?

Oh and ... they won't let you use normal chalk? What?

My trainer came today. I can now start training my left hand as it is MUCH weaker than the right. Right can cope with #1 for 5 or 6 reps, left coudln't even do 1 rep. Stupid handedness!

Thread revival!

Yeah since getting these I barely used them but took them back with me to uni a few weeks ago. Used as advised (about every 3 days) I am now able to do 20 with the 150 (probably only about 7-8 left though). The 200 is annoying since I can close it technically but an annoying thing happens whereby my fingers tend to slip into the gap I'm trying to close . Just a little bit but it means the handles stay about 2mm apart, I need to hear them click together! Also think they have bruised a joint on my little finger :o

Anyone else ever had what I call "morning grip", where your grip is inexplicably weak first thing in the morning? I never use them until afternoon or later but this phenomenom only lasts about an hour after waking up or less.

Can you do it in your left ;)? How did you break your knuckles, sounds painful

Can I 'eck! Well, 3 reps max.

Punching a wall. Kids - don't do it! Thing is, it's healed fine, but, even if I do normal weights, after a few reps my strength drops in my hand and it hurts like heck. Doctor time me thinks!

had the level ones a while ago dusted them off easy currently on the #2 can close them for a couple of reps, but its true what they say when most people who lift weights can't close the level 1... i do a session on it at work and so far only one person (no weight training either) has closed em and he made it look easy too.

The level 2's however are another matter i've taken mine to the gym a fair few times to let the "bigger" blokes have a go and low and behold nothing done yet :D

I tend to stick my other hands thumb through the spring to help stop them turning side to side and slipping around. Can focus just on squeezing them. Also precaution incase it tries to fly out of your hand!

might buy the trainer. what kind of reps should I be doing as i've not really done grip training.

If you can do 15 on one level move to the next and you should get about 1 or 2. IIWU i would buy the trainer and the level 1 as a male should manage to get up to level one closing standards fairly quickly. It will slow mightily from there.

Revival again! I have continued using these as advised and have not missed any "sessions", or not by much anyhow. 1 day using, then 2 days off usually. I do a few with 150lb for warm up (perhaps crack knuckles too!), then the 200lb for however many I can do, then rest for 5-10 mins, then 200lb again, usually do this 4 times. Finish with 2 sets of 150lbs to failure. Both hands, but left can't do 200lb's properly, it is inherently more awkward in the left as well as it being weaker generally.

From last time posting when I couldn't do any 200lbs but was close I'm now getting about 8 full handles touching closures on the right each set. Won't be using 250lbs for a while yet but steady progress :). I also have quite possibly the smallest hands ever to have closed the 200lb, at just 75mm accross my knuckles width!

Hm...I've always wondered if these are worth it...

I've only been weight lifting a few months now, so I presume the beginners grips are more what I should try out first? :p

Unless I buy the trainer classic five grip...But I doubt I could close that. :(

I'm not sure about CoC grippers, but the 150lbs is a will be a good place to start with the Heavy Grips ones :) . I bought the set of 3; 150, 200, 250, ideal I've found!
