Car issues, engine failure.

People always ditch it asap after repair, but it's unlikely to happen again soon. Plus the work is warrantied (for a year I think)
Yes the work and engine is warrantied for a year plus I would still have just shy of a year left on the original warranty.

But I doubt I will keep it for long. Maybe a month or so to make sure it’s all working fine before finding something else or straight to We buy any car.

I’d get rid of asap once fixed.

When issues like this have happened to me in the past, I loose confidence in the vehicle and brand. The further risk of throwing up big future repair bills is too high but it’s the sheer inconvenience of being without your car, chasing up third parties for updates, etc. that’s the real pain in the bum for me.
100% with you here, lost all confidence with car and doubt it will ever come back. Trying to deal with the warrant company is absolute pain.

Yeah it's under warranty, but you've just witnessed first-hand how grim the warranty itself can be..!

Feels like ages sense I updated this thread. Anyway, the garage has fitted the replacement engine and it is all running as it should. The MOT is delayed until next week, due to a very small coolant leak and they are waiting on a replacement hose. Everything seems very positive, should hopefully have the car back next week and hopefully it will be the end of this saga. :(

Glad it's almost working - light at the end of the tunnel!

It just rocks your confidence in the car. Same happened to my wife’s car. Got it fixed, took it straight to we buy any car.

9 months though, that’s wild. I struggle to wait a day or two.

9 months is insane. How can they justify that sort of timescale.

I'd never buy a Jag again if i had that experience.

Wow 9 months.... Talk about test patience
9 months  That’s rough dude, you’ve got more patience than most. Glad it’s finally sorted.

To say that my patience had finally worn thin a month ago, was an understatement the last email I sent them was rather to the point about the amount time was beyond a joke. That I insisted on a time frame and end date in writing. Also said would take them to court if was not resolved in said time frame.

Yep has certainly rocked my confidence with the car, it’s got a tank of fuel so going to use that whilst I wait for the V5. The car does feel big after driving the Corolla for the last few months.

They had a lot of issues trying to get the engine running correctly, they spent weeks chasing their tail with what they thought was an electrical fault. Ended up being the replacement engine was the issue and their supplier agreed to send them another one. I am definitely done with JLR products.

They're lovely cars but they tend to be cheap for a reason s/h. My dad had one and there was always something wrong with it. I always wanted a Jag XKR but I just can't bring myself to do it.

I've been wonder why there are so many cheap Jags for sale all between 10 and 20 years old, now I know why they are cheap

You'd think after making cars for so long they would have figured it out how to do it by now, but nope.

They know how to make a fancy interior and large price tag, but nothing else.
