Are you sure they are chrome? Looks stainless to me?.

You can bring that back but you need something a bit more aggressive/machined and build it back up to a fine sand paper. I would start with 600 grit and even go coarser if that didn't work.

Not sure.
If it's anything like mine is pitted and has created craters in the finish. Where any dirt is just going to stick like crazy going forward.

Anyone have much experience polishing exhausts?

I tried doing mine today using Autosol and although they are better I’m not sure if I’ve either not tried hard enough, or that’s as good as it’s going to get.

Did you use wire wool too? That + Autosol can help - a cloth won't be aggressive enough. Be persistent too, you might be there a while...

Since you can never have enough car detailing products…

I was looking at Yum Cars - Dress V2 - Looks a lovely product but quite expensive, their entire range seems generally on the more expensive side of things which is a shame as they are local to me. (£18 for 500Ml or 5L for £90)

So I thought I’ll go back to a bottle of Car Pro - Perl which is £18 for 1Ltr.

However the curve ball is I came across Car Pro - Darkside.. Has anyone tried this and how does it compare to Perl? It seems to be marketed at specifically tyre only so can only imagine it’s like Perl but on steroids in terms of longevity etc.

Edit: Probably will stick with Perl since it’s nice to work with and quite versatile.

You need to take actual metal away. If the tips are made from thin chinese metal then you are buggered but if it is thick and can sand back to the "pits" bottom and then polish it up you are golden.

I swear this is the most satisfying aspect of washing the car.

It's a great feeling when you know the paints protected and it rains or gets dirty.

The weather's been appalling and I haven't had a chance to get past the decon stage. Grrr.

Lovely beading shot! What product are you using? … Some sort of Spray and Rinse?

Just Autoglym Polar Seal. I did use like double their recommended dose. Just spray on, then pressure wash off. It turns an hour long apply and buff process to under 10 minutes.

It also lasts just as long as applying wax by hand in my experience.

@ShiWarrior - headlamp restoration kit something like

Obviously if you already have similar products (very fine polishing pad or very fine grade sandpaper, polish and ideally some sort of UV resistant sealant) then use them
