*** Car Wash / Valet / Detailing Thread ***

I hit the barrels with BH Auto wheels and Surfex HD today. It did an admirable job given the barrels aren't lacquered.

And surfex hd ? Did u do surfex first ?

I did autowheel first, let it dwell then agitate with the EZ brush. The sprayed it with Surfex and did another round of brushing. Then rinse.

Edit... Surfex @ 10%

That was just for the barrels as the faces clean easy with PH neutral shampoo and a wash mitt.

I know you said you already have a wet vac already, and not sure how you feel about parkside stuff. But could

be worth it?

Looks okay - Don’t usually go to Lidl but may possibly check it out.

Seems a tad bulky but no doubt it’ll be more powerful than the more compact ones.

Reviews only seem to be in Spanish or German, I now know a few more words than I did before :D

I got to use a few new products today for the decon stage.

GT Zero Decon shampoo. This was nice and slick. Good level of suds and smelt pleasant.

BH Korrosol. I was a little apprehensive about getting it on the chrome bits though it was fine in the end. The car is burgundy so it wasn't easy to see the reaction but could see it on the roof as that's a lighter colour.

GT Zero Tar and Glue. Worked well on the 3 bits of tar I found. Easy to use and no fuss.

Farecla G3 clay mitt. I've used this back in 2016 but as it been a while it was almost like the first time. I paired this with a strong concentration of decon shampoo for the lubrication. Worked like a charm and very quick and easy to get the whole car done. Car was already fairly smooth but this made light work in getting the rest removed. I don't think I'll ever use a clay bar again as the mitt removes most of the debris in a fraction of the time and effort.

GT Tyre Serum. I used a little brush when applying to the tyres. Buffed it down with a microfibre half hr later. I also used this on the plastic trim and I found the application excellent. I had to work it in but it was easy to spread and get the desired rich satin sheen to the plastics. Very happy with the finish. I'll give it another light once over for the 2 layers it recommends on the bottle.

I didn't get to use any polish or wax at this stage as the above process was long enough. That'll have to wait for next week when the weather is better too.

The paint looks great there, but now the suns out in full force, it exposes all the swirls and lacquer scratches. To be expected and that's where the PB black whole should hopefully do a decent job of masking.

@Janesy B and others

When applying Poorbooys blackhole by hand is it recommended to use a mild polishing pad or just a plain microfibre/pad will do?

I bought the G3 polish pad but I'm second guessing if that's needed or not.

BH auto wheel is single handedly the best wheel cleaner i have ever used! Bought a 1 litre version of it a few weeks back, leaves the wheel shiny and really clean.

I wanna try the snow foam next as i've just ran out of my Polar.

Think this black friday im gonna invest in a DA and retire my rotary so i can correct some of my paintwork. Dealer left some prep marks when i collected the car last year but never fixed them, was nothing serious or that bad but its starting to bug me now that the car is coming together nicely, especially when the sun hits it.

Done plenty of driving recently so the car is ready for a deep clean.

Fortunately I’m excited to do such a thing as a few bits have arrived today from Autobrite.

Products
5L - Wheel and Tyre
500ML - Project 64
500Ml - Waterspot Remover

Accessories
Autobrite’s New Foam Lance
6 x Pro Sprayer Bottles (IK Knock Offs)
12 x Multipurpose 350GS Microfibres

Not had chance to properly unbox everything but below is a quick picture of the foam lance.

Compared to my ancient eBay special lance the quality appears to be miles ahead, mainly was tired of needing a small funnel to fill my original lance up since it slowly glugged and backed up when filling.

Looks like it will be a pleasure to use!

Worked out £34 with a discount code, so little cheaper than a lot of the popular ones.

It’s been a busy morning cleaning 3 cars, fair play to people who do it for a living.

Plenty of filthy wheels! Turtle Wax Redline with Halfords Advanced at 10 to 1 applied via the IK Foamer having great results. Once rinsed it left the alloys sparkling!

Some shots after agitation showing the level of filth I’ve dealt with

And one of my Polo GTI all cleaned up.

Got car ready for sale. 18 years young and 113k on the clock. Owned for 10 years and only 2 previous owners. It obviously had to start raining just as I finished polishing it. Will have to wax it another day. The freshly painted wheels really pop against the blue calipers. Full day doing the interior and exterior plus 4 days on and off on the wheels. Carpro pearl has to be my favourite go to cleaning product can get away just using it for everything really. I also mentioned to my missus that we will be getting a divorce if she kerbs the freshly painted alloys before it is sold!

You can use either the white or black one from that set.

I use this if polishing by hand: https://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/shinemate-handi-grip-applicator-kit

Last time I used Blackhole I just used the black soft pad as if it was a wax.

I like that it looks great! if this would have been for sale a couple of months ago i'd be interested in this. may i ask, how much are you asking for it? i see there's only 1 on AT, it's iirc just under £4k it has less miles @ 76k. yours looks nicer though.
