*** Car Wash / Valet / Detailing Thread ***

I’m feeling like a complete moron right now so please feel free to have a chortle.

I’ve got one of these that I plan to use tomorrow, I’ve read the instructions 3 times and I still can’t work out if I’m supposed to use the black side or the microfibre side? I’m thinking the black side (with plenty of lube) but what then is the microfibre side for?

Definitely the black side, that’s the tacky surface that grabs the contamination. As for the microfibre side, probably to keep your hand comfy as you go :D

If you’re using a bucket of soapy water you use the microfibre side to get the panel damp then go over it with the clay side.

I gave the car a wash this morning as the water spots from the dust and rain were winding me up.

This was the grime after 300 miles (2wks) and some of the miles driven in heavy rain. To my astonishment... The GT tyre serum managed to hang on even after all that... and even after a wash with APC and a tyre brush!... Below is the car after a quick spray wax top up. Sun's out guns out!

No extra tyre serum applied this time round... I'm still amazed how it lasted!

Snowfoam
Wash
Dry
Claybar
Wax
"Back to black" the non-painted black bits
Moisturise rubber seals
Deep clean wheels
Deep clean roof
Reproof roof
Moisturise leather
Dust the interior with detailer and microfibre cloth

Have a beer
Snooze on the sofa

NOTE: Spoiler is not normally kept in the up position, just there so I could clean underneath properly

Picked up a bottle of Turtlewax Acyrilic - Trim Restorer as the Black Rubber - Window Surrounds had faded.

Had some free time but it was perhaps too warm… I ignored the instruction to not apply in direct sunlight and cracked on.

Quite a messy product, almost like pigmented plastic dip? Wasn’t spreading nicely due to heat which was my own fault and should have taped up as excess over wipe was a pain to remove as product was drying almost instantly due to heat.

If the finish lasts I can deal with the application process, in the correct conditions and a little time taping up areas which are being treated should be painless.

found another shop that sells online and deliver

They are local to me, and i asked them if its possible to pick up rather than deliver, and they said yes

There free delivery option is only over £25 and there prices are competitive to in2detailing etc

They are Based in Aylesbury

Can anyone reccomend a good pre-wash/shampoo that with strip off old wax as well as road grime?

Not washed my car in a good few months and it really needs a complete do-over.

You can use it in a foam canon as a pre wash and in a bucket as a shampoo.

Washed 2 Cars in this heat today, First one early 9AM before the sun came round and second just now as the driveway is now shaded.

Couldn’t stand by and watch bird poop be baked into the Golden Paintwork any longer :p

Products Used

Autobrite Citrus + Halfords Advanced Foam for Pre Wash.
Autobrite Purple Velvet for contact wash.
Autobrite Britegel for wheels and tyres.
Autofinesse Satin for tyres and black trim.

With my recent haul of new detailing products I want to give a shout out the to stand out ones.

First off the Autoglanz Double Twist 90x60 Drying Towel. It's just awesome. Very plush and it just devours the water. It's a massive upgrade over my old waffle towel.

Garage Therapy Tyre serum. Easy to apply and superb endurance on a well prepped tyre. No good to use as a plastic dressing. Just tyres.

And Autoglanz Prizm spray wax. Easy to apply and buff off. No streaks and leaves a glossy smooth finish. Great water repellent response too.

Oh and the EZ Detail wheel barrel brush. Very good at squeezing into gaps, seems like it'll last and drys quickly. Works great with APC on the barrels, the agitation creates good foaming.
