OK I see thanks - 1300psi / 90bar is lower point for their foam generators - looks like you can get 3000psi electric machine more readily in the USA ...
64K$ question is whether foam volume changes dramatically over the 1300->3600ps range - I'll look for a video.

since the weather was hot, took some time off for bike stripping (other thread)
also ideal temp for seat maintenance
.. did some bmw 'leather' seat cleaning Leathermaster cleaning fluid (which I'd bought when I thought they were leather, versus plastic coated, but its a detergent anyway ) and then applied Sonax plastic/anti-uv cream.

Curious to know peoples thoughts on how often they actually wash their cars and how in depth each of those washes is? I guess everyone is different and I suppose a possible answer is 'I wash it when its dirty!!' :D

I generally wash my M340i and Z4 once a week (the Z4 usually less as its a weekend toy only, pretty much), sometimes twice depending on how much driving I've been doing/weather conditions. When I do wash it, I use AG Polar Blast/Polar Wash/Polar Seal. Then dry it off using a couple of Turtle Wax drying towels. It's a time consuming (ish) process if you do it correctly, but the end result is worth it. Wondering though, does anyone do a sort of 'maintenance' wash in between their 'full' washes? Or to avoid paint swirls/scratches are you just as well going the whole hog every time with a two/three stage process?

A mate of mine has the mantra of 'everytime, no matter how careful you are, you put a wash mitt anywhere near your paint, you can potentially cause damage' and as such he actually lets the car go longer between full 3 stage washes even if it looks dirty. I'm not sure if he has a point there, surely if there are more dirt pareticles built up on the paint if you leave it longer then there's more likelihood of you damaging paint?

Life is too short to worry to the upteenth degree about the potential of swirls.

I like to wash once every 4-6 weeks which includes a top up of spray wax as drying aid.

And to decon wash, glaze and wax every 6 months.

Needed a new Wheel Brush so decided to go for Autobrite’s - Large Flexible Wheel Brush.

It seems decent quality so will be interesting to see how it holds up over use.

Should make cleaning the inner barrel less of a chore!

I know this style Wheel Brush isn’t to everyone’s preference but thought it was worth mentioning it’s currently £11.84 on Amazon with Prime Delivery.

Still pretty shiny after a week of dust and some rain.

I've got loads of crap collected over the years for cleaning cars.
It's just a pity I've completely lost interest recently.

worth keeping on top of keeping them clean, as an example :

mum bought her car brand new, 2015 i think, my car is a 2008 car that i maintain (cleaning)
and my car (i bought 5 years old) looks really good, but her car is awful, the wheels look like they've all corroded and the bodywork is doing the same, mine still looks fairly new

At 5L for £20 - I’d recommend Turtlewax Redline as a fall out based wheel cleaner.

Does a cracking job for the money, if you think other alternatives are usually £12-17 per 500/1000ML.

Redline with a layer of foam over the top at work.

Only a weeks worth of brake dust but has removed stubborn rusted on deposits, being gloss back barrels I find deposits are ridiculously noticeable when the sun is beaming down on them.

Suggestions on convertible roof cleaner and protection would be appreciated as would something to treat / back-to-black / freshen up window rubber seals.

I’m a fan of Autobrite Products - Usually buy in 5L Form in sales.

Haven’t personally used either of these products, but as a brand I believe they make some solid products, can’t see why these would be any different.

£16.67 (Down from £25) although weirdly goes to £20 down from £30 when adding to basket.

500ML Fabriclean
500ML Fabrishield
1 Brush
1 Applicator

They have a How To Use Video - Shows the ability of each product briefly.

No doubt a Phonecall to Customer Services or Instagram Message would have them honour the price advertised prior to basket/checkout.

Roof as follows;

Ideally you're going to want something like Surfex HD to clean it with a brush. Clean it until it's truly clean and then 303 Aerospace on it.

With the rubbers, again 303 do a rubber protectant but I haven't used it like the above is tried and tested.

need to make an order very soon

currently looking at these :

advice / alternatives welcome

for wheels AND tyres (assuming its good for tyres)

as a Rinseless Wash

barrel brush

This one ?

or This one ?

Wheel was/sealant :

thanks Kona

I already have a barrel brush, but I want a better quality one that is less likely to scratch my wheels

so you think a normal spray wax (for paintwork) is good for wheels too ?

You have silver wheels right? The EZ style brush won't leave any noticeable marks. It may do on shiny black wheels only because they show up everything. I also like to use BH APC @ 10% in a spray bottle for the wheels. Gives a good lube and foam on top of the shampoo I use. GT shampoo.

Yes in regards to wax. Use that TW flex wax you have. You have loads of it. Apply with a MF instead of the spray and rinse route for a longer lasting protection. I'd also do 2 coats as its the first time. Then top up with a quick spritz every monthly wash.

I have this brush on the way for my tyres. I want to clean them but also preserve the GT Tyre serum. My tyres aren't filthy so a softer brush is preferable.

im thinking about my new car more than anything and if i get the car i hope to get, then those wheels may come with dark alloys or normal alloys (not black)

is the mothers wheel brush too hard for the tyres then ?
i could get the mothers tyre brush which is a LOT cheaper than the wheel brush if that be better?

thanks for the tips

If it comes with dark Alloys then do a good clean with BH auto wheel and then protect with 2 coats of flex wax. Then I'd use a microfibre mitt going forward for the faces. You may have to go MF for barrels if you're very particular.

No need for a wheel brush for the faces if you clean regularly (monthly) and protect with wax.

Not sure with the mothers stuff. Not used them before. The tyre brush I ordered is reviewed well for those of us that keep on top of maintenance washes.

I don't disagree with any of this, all very valid.

However I'd probably suggest just coating the wheels in a dedicated coating. It's a simple enough process.
