I picked up some RainX Screen wash,

with any luck it will give some coating..

do you think if you bought any "rain repellent" stuff (that's not like a wax i mean) in fluid in a bottle form, do you think you an just add it to your screen wash ? i don't see why not personally, worth a try ?

It would only really get applied where the wipers wipe though. Some products can be added in to screenwash I think.

Like anything, good application is key.
Do it properly and it'll last way longer. Plus it's needs to cure so adding it to screenwash is not advisable.

Rain x is so easy to apply and it's lasts a couple of months.

@mrk I have noticed the same characteristics when applying any Ceramic Based Spray Coating - I find applying directly to a Microfibre helps, as the fibres become damp it just helps the product spread more evenly and preventing dry patches appearing as you swipe over the paintwork.

I applied a coat of Autobrite Repel on Sunday… First impressions was wow, the water behaviour is incredible even low speed beads flying upwards and no need for wipers even at low ish speeds… but then tons of wiper judder :o

Only a quick single application, applied a small amount to the wipers but not sure if I removed/buffed well enough from the wipers.

Edit/Update - Rained on my way home this evening, wipers kicked in and no judder at all thankfully! Whatever was causing it seems to have worn off, maybe some high spots not buffed properly.

Get yourself some Soft99 Glaco and Ultra Glaco, clean and treat the glass properly and you will be amazed. :)

I have some already last year
When I do the glaco, it puts square's allnoner my windscreen, you see it when it defrosting or a film over it at certain times

Is it still a good idea for some basic stuff to just do what the OP wrote? With all this new snow foam, no rinse, no 2 bucket stuff. Want to get some bits and do better than sponge in bucket or pay loads at the self car wash as I don't mind doing it myself by hand but I'm definitely feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the options the advertising is throwing at me.

Hi

If you want a basic set up
Then if you have access to a hose,

Rinse with hose
1 bucket of car shampoo
Noodle wash mitt to clean car
Rinse off
Dry with drying towel

I strongly advise this wash mitt over the noodle type. Used a noodle one for years and was surprised at how much better a microfibre one is.

I keep a noodle one for the wheels. And I liked the microfibre one so much I use another for the bottom third of the car instead using my old noodle mitt, which I have many of.

Why do I like it? Holds suds better, lighter and you can feel the wash better. And also dries in less than half the time.

Thanks guys, I've got both on the way to play with for now. I'll no doubt be back in when I go down a rabbit hole and start looking at pressure washers and clay bars and window cleaners.

Any recommendations for a single stage polish/compound with a DA on a black car? Not looking for perfection so don't want to spend 2 days on it, would be happy with 60/70% improvement..

Why are so many videos clickbait these days? Or have clickbait titles/thumbnails?

Though to be fair it does make it easier for me to sift through poor content on YouTube.
Not seeing anything clickbaity there really.

Colour changing wheel cleaner is just fallout remover with added surfactants and degreasers.
