*** Car Wash / Valet / Detailing Thread ***

I bought one from qwashers on ebay, not cheap. But has been worth it for me, the original hose was infuriating to use.

Q Washers

It also has ends you can unscrew to replace if it gets damaged or you need to use the hose with a different machine.
Thanks bud! Might set it up on the wall by the drive so I can just pull it out and wash

providing you coil the karcher hozes in large circles without kinking I've not had any problems 10+years;
if they are being coiled tightly in some reel, that will reduced lifespan, like garden hozes - which I usually store in large figure of 8 non-kink

foam spray bottles - neither marolex 2000, nor IK foam pro2+, seem ideal,
marolex has lots of bad reviews about reliability, but can be used for non-foam too, IK has better reviews but only does foam.

I've got a maralax foamer 3000 and the carbon collective battery powered one (that does foam and non foam)

I'm going to get a sprayer soon - I also have the Carbon Collective battery powered thing, but I just find the nozzles don't produce a good spray or foam pattern. I'm eyeing up either of the following, the little angled lances look ideal to get an alkaline pre-wash into the barrels of wheels etc.

seems to me that pressure washer foam needs a lot more water than using a portable foam bottle which can also supply air,
maybe the foam with more water is better at dirt removal though after leaving to dwell .

albeit - when you look how little water/fluid pro window cleaner setups seem to use maybe less (water) is more effectiveness.

Having a cordless/lightweight pressure washer would nonetheless make cleaning cars/bikes(windows?) faster without the setup time for getting pw out of garage and sorting water+electric.

I use it as well as my pressure washer driven foam lance. The reason being is I use it to foam the wheel arch liners, tyres and wheels with KKD Brakeaway as pre-wash. Whilst the foam is dwelling on the alloy, I scrub the wheel arches with a Ez-brush Go and scrub the tyre with a wheel brush. I then rinse it all off (without agitating the alloy), then clean the alloy with brushes/mitts with some Garage Therapy One Wheel shampoo.

The pressure washer foam is used for the pre-wash on the body panels. I don't foam the wheels using a foam lance because the water passing through the lance dilutes the solution inside, therefore it would take a lot of KKD Brakeaway to achieve a 1:15 ratio. 400ml of BH Touchless is 4% PIR for me, and 1:15 is 6% so it would take greater than 400ml of KKD Brakeaway in a snow foam lance which isn't cost effective.

OK that's fascinating thanks - so you literally couldn't respect the optimal dilution in the pressure washer ..
(definitely sounds like a portable air compressor and gun would put me on top of the neighbourhood/vatican geek chart)

Anyone got any recommendations for DA foam pads and polish with a high cut?

Asking as my dad's car has been scratched by the neighbours kid accidentally running their bike's handlebars down the passenger side door. It only seems to be in the clear, thankfully, not down to the paint.

Cannot go wrong with megs 105 and a orange hexlogic pad.

if I bought some new pads I'd see whether you can also mount smaller diameter 3" ones on PorterCable cable 6" backing pads, for flexibility, on small panels/pillars/lights.

I used green Sonus pads (apparently a a reticulated polyester foam) ... same colour as janesy remarked, I didn't burn any paintwork,
outside temp's better for polishing now, solvents don't evaporate too fast.

I’d probably pick out Koch Chemie H9.02 along with Scholl microfibre cutting pad for high cut

Then to finish I’d choose KC M3.02 along with a finishing pad of choice. Their own one is quite decent.

Thanks both - I'll check those out

Labocosmetica SAM + HC beading quite nicely

I ran out of Re-Tyre, GT One Wheel Shampoo and Touch-Less on the last wash, so bought some more but this is the more concentrated Touch-Less they've just released. Plus some Labocosmetica Perfecta to top up every three months or so, and Trace-Less as that seems to be getting great reviews and saves faffing with rinseless wash for glass.
