*** Car Wash / Valet / Detailing Thread ***

I watched that video to see if the DIY Detail Rinseless was good, sounds pretty average (and expensive). A lot of hype around it over in the States... mainly because of that Yvan guy.

I hope you have better luck than me asking for snow foam :)

The answer for that is surely always Touchless just now?

Guys, any recommendations for a decent value wash mitt please?

As I said, I got mine from Costco, a 2 pack noodle mitt for around a tenner or something. If Costco isn't suitable, in2detailing has a couple options.

This is the cheapest in stock at £9 https://www.in2detailing.co.uk/coll.../303-noodle-wash-mitt?variant=40999813513295#

But this one is probably worth the extra £3 https://www.in2detailing.co.uk/coll...-mitt-noodle-wash-mitt?variant=39288372592719

Or there is a few other options around that price if you want to try something else.

I went for the following setup for contactless foam wash and general short trigger spray use such as rinsing.

MTM SGS35 short trigger spray gun including a set of coloured nozzles for different spray angles.
MTM PF 22.2 Foam Lance including the bottle (wide based non topple variant with the screw threaded connection)
MTM 500mm stainless steel extension lance with stainless steel nozzle.

Total cost including free delivery for all three items was £116.99p from eBay seller, all items brand new.

Next purchase will be cleaning products, mitt(s) and microfibre cloths.

Could anyone please recommend a protection product that can be applied after a contactless wash followed by either a rinseless wash or shampoo wash?
I have some old style wax, one brand is Simoniz, the other is MER but they are at least 15 years old so I am hoping to use something more modern that I can apply myself and top up when required.

There seems to be a huge range of protective products, something simple and effective that can be applied by spray or an applicator/microfibre and buffed to a shine wouldd be ideal.
A quick read up suggests that SiRamik Lustrous graphene does a good job ?

Thx

DIY Detail - I read an interesting post on reddit where the US guys were saying that a lot of the stuff is just white labeled products that they are reselling from the bigger chemical plants in the States. I'm not entirely sure about Yvan - dude has jumped from ONR to Mckees (remember when he wa pushing the Mckees n914 heavily?) and now has ventured out on his own it seems.

I think quite a few of these youtube home garage merchants have adjendas pushing products, they earning a nice cushtie living from kick back for detailing product recommendations.

what's a good choice for wheel cleaning ? looking at the likes of below V
There are several years of baked on dirt inside these alloys which I will probably remove from the car to clean, I don't think I want anything acid/alkali,
which seems to be accompanied by requirement to neutralize and wash it off rapidly;
identifying a value for money product with the varying levels of dilution required is difficult too

Can only comment on the Bilberry, it is decent, mine has last years. As you dilute it down, so worth considering that when comparing cost.

Out of the loop due to above so cannot comment on the other products. My thoughts are similar as others though, you may need something stronger to start, Interestingly the inside of the Focus wheels were like this sounds and when it was in at a detailing place, they mentioned the wheels had been refurbished before but only the face, inside had been left, I would never get them clean and needed a refurb.
