Career in the Forces? (IT Related)

Applying for ICT got a second interview tomorrow and fitness test shortly after.

How are you liking it so far?

Good stuff.

The first few days are really intense. Talking 5am starts, let off at 8pm with 4hrs of stuff to do once you get to your room. It's not so bad now, but I think it's only because we've all become used to it.

Have fun with your application stage, make the most of the time you have before starting at RTS, you'll miss it when you're there! I'll almost certainly be gone by the time you start, however I might be there when you have your PRTC.

Sounds hardcore, might start limiting my sleep pattern just now to get used to it. Mornings aint my thing just now anyway so it should help.

Glad you done it, any regrets?

Regret not being a bit fitter before going, that's about it!

I got up at 6 yesterday and 5 today, don't want to ruin my pattern and feel like **** tomorrow morning :\

I'm not sure, I think it's A. I've heard from senior intakes that C is best, but I don't care really as we have awesome instructors :D

How's it going Begbie?

I found out how tasty CS gas is this week. Woop woop.

Hey,

Fitness test is on Thursday, unfortunatly not as fit as I wanted to be for it but will still pass - well I hope!

Some problems with my refrences, but that is mostly due to my HR department not passing the letter onto the right people before opening it. Awaiting a phone back from the CPL to know what has been sent back.

Apart from that I am more excited than ever, keep reading up more and more and I don't think I have ran as much in my life! :p

Hows training going?

On to weapons now, it's awesome.

I hope the fitness test went well, they should be letting you know your provisional dates very soon if so!

Failed, car broke down on the way there needless to say the cpls at the afco wernt too happy. Retest on Monday and and been told if i fail then thats it.

Another weekend off Zefan?

Begbie you shouldnt fail(the second one), they wont hold the grudge for already having failed once, one of my interviews had to get written off because forms were missing. Just be confident, easy enough if you're right for the job.

And............I didn't :D

11.30 quickest I've done it, only because the lacie at the gym got the time wrong :p Not that fussed though as would rather have it that bit better

he didnt fail, he passed he is saying :)

I wouldnt worry about it to be honest, from what iv been lead to believe you dont even do 2.4km runs very often etc when you are in training, its more gym work, shuttle runs and what not :)
my mate just passed his fitness today too.

There are some long distance runs and a cross country race. To be honest it is up to the PTi's what you do and training regimes are always being altered. Fact of the matter is, get as fit as possible.

PS: Congrats Begbie :)

yea but the long distance 'runs' are not really runs.
Im going navy btw, so obv its going to be different for me, but from current personel iv been told be expecting mostly gym work, and when we have a gruelling phys binge its followed by a good recovery period which will be something like guns or what not. :)
Genuinly looking forward to the satisfaction gained from finishing a beasting session tbh.

Thinking back to our training consisted of a good mixture of gym circuits, outdoor work and swimming. The long distance runs were definitely "runs" :p It may have all changed since however. It's good you are looking forward to a good beasting. It's shameful how many lazy fat ***** we have in the forces but fortunately steps are being taken to rectify that.

indeed, thats why you now have to do the fitness test before you go to basic, too many people were being sent back after a few days, this was the case when my sister joined 9years ago, half the people back within 1week, 2 train journeys etc paid for, all that kit etc.
Im not looking forward to long distance running, ill need to get my cardio back up to scratch from the gym sessions and circuits etc as iv been slacking lately, but i dont think it will take me long to adapt.

Best of luck. Keep us informed of your progress and of any tips you pick up whilst training, might be handy for other members intending on joining.
