Carling Cup and PL ganes, 14th to 20th *SPOILERS*

Didn't Arsenal get one against Stoke? Fabregas missed it

It wouldn't have come up when I checked our goals.

Ok yes we were awarded one penalty, but it still doesn't distract from the point that's being made. We're getting an unfair amount of penalty appeals unawarded and it's starting to get ridiculous; it's obvious the whole Eduardo affair has played into the minds of the referees. Remember too, we play very attacking football.

Penalty awarding doesn't come down to frequently appealing.

You think refs are purposely now giving Arsenal penalties?

Its irrelevant anyway, as Spurs didnt deserve anything from that game, and even if it had counted, there is no way they would have held on for a draw based on what followed. Gomes the only decent player tonight in a Spurs shirt.

Its a totally different game at 1-1. What followed could not be predicted. Disappointed with the result, should have been 6 points from the last two games not 1.

Shocking linesman decision.

If Harry gets banged up, bring back Big Martin Jol ?

Am I the only person who thought Lucas was crap tonight? His passing was rubbish, all he seemed to do was pass to spurs players. Ended up breaking up a lot of attacking opportunities and invited a lot of pressure onto us in the second half.

EDIT: Maybe crap's a bit harsh, but his passing was dire.

it wasnt his best game but his defensive play was good

I think carlos tevez is better then rooney and dimitar berbatov i dont know why fergie didnt sign carlos tevez and spend the same amount on lazy berbatov i would love him at liverpool and well done tevez for telling gary where to stick it

No i thought he had another bad performace, its like hes in the way. Didn't see him make any decent pass's or make good tackles. HAs this habbit of giving silly fouls in front of the box. Think by basicly having five in the middle during defence his lack of any quality is hidden.
Worring though i could see that by the 70min some off our players, Aquilani, riera, degem were spent. Hopfully its just a lack of match fitness.

Having watched the highlights i have to say was very impressed with Arsenal and their workrate tonight. The Gallas incident??..sure it should have been a yellow card and free kick to Bolton but Wiley decided to let the play go which resulted in Fabs goal...awesome that was but really the Bolton keeper, cant pronounce his name or spell it:p is absolutely rubbish...should have saved that.....but as they say things have a way of evening themselves out...how many times have we been robbed of a penalty or blatant foul...so im not too fussed about it.

Fabregas has been immense for us this season...just about every game hes played in hes had an effect...when he isnt playing we arent the same but he is just simply awesome in attack. Lovely goal he scored although should have had a few more plus a blatant penalty that should have been given in all honesty but Bolton should be lucky they lost 4-2...if Fab had scored his goals it could have easily been 7 or 8 goals:p.

Loved the Arshavin, Rosicky and Vermalen goals too....glad to sicknote get a goal and not get injured....also happy to see Clichy back as well.

Top of the table the fans were singing lol...i just hope we can stay there and not drop too many pts in the next few weeks.

But as i said earlier on it was a simply sublime performance from Arsenal...just worries me that our defence gave up 2 soft goals...Denilson shouldnt be making rash tackles like that in the box.

Aquilani has been out for ages as everyone knows. Riera is only just back from injury (first game in fact since) and Degen spent all the time he was on the pitch, running up and down. Nothing much to worry about there at all.

I thought Lucas played well tonight. His passing wasn't as good as Stoke, where I thought he probably had one of his best games for us, but he was in there and didn't shirk any responsibility and that's sort of what we needed tonight - a battling performance.

Totaly disagree on lucas. I guess we have to disagree as i thought he was once again poor.

Blimey, we won Spurs! Fantesticle! :D

Although we have a mountain of improvement to climb, it was really good seeing the whole team fighting like hell tonight. Thought we lacked shape and many of the players where all over the pitch, however they covered for eachother when it mattered which is good.

Some mentionable performances in Riera, Kyrgiakos, Carra and Aquilani, oh and of course Mascherano (who never fails to impress me lately!)

Aquilani - the best I've seen him. Still rough when it comes to decision making and a little raw on passes but he showed glimpses of what he's capable of tonight with a lot of potential to work with. I hope he's played in this role regulary from now on because hes not suited for the middle position (which should be given to Gerrard IMO)

Kuyt - wtf? Really WTF? OK he took the first goal well, full credit for that, but to miss TWO quite easy "strikers" goals is borderline unforgivable IMO. I know its going to be overlooked because he got the goals but... I just hope we get someone else in the squad who provides real competition for his place because he's not good enough to win us games. I know thats quite a contradiction considering tonight and I feel a little harsh saying that, but from the open play performance tonight and the goal he missed against Stoke, I'm sure people will agree with me to some degree.

Kyrgiakos - I'm starting to really like this guy and I cant help but wonder why Benitez hasn't been using him more often over the last few months. I know he messed up in one game previously, but he's demonstrated in the last two games his experience and willingness to get the job done. He's also very good in the air and seems to settles the others around him. +1 from me :)

Lucas - worst he's played all season IMO. It was similar to the old Lucas; brainless tackles near the 18 yard box, loose passes, lost possession too much, and his lack of natural ability when we needed something from him was highlighted in plain view tonight.

Riera - demonstrated how much we miss an experienced and intelligent DIRECT minded player in the squad. Although missing at the very start, he soon came into his stride and was the catalyst in our pressing efforts. Excellent, hope he can stay fit (Also hope rumours of him leaving are false too)

Lets just hope we dont blow it against Wolves! :o

Arsenal were decent, infact pretty good, other than the first 20 minutes better overall in attack than the weekend game.

However Denilson was ruddy awful, I saw two or three key tackles right on the edge of our box, or very close to it, it was Fabregas who made them. Diaby is doing what Song does, gets the ball, in this case twice facing the Bolton goal while just outside of our box. All he needs to do is move forward into space and we can attack and keep the ball, instead with a Bolton player behind him(closer to our goal and not in the way of going forward) he was leaning back and focusing on the player and keeping him away from the ball, rather than focusing on the ball and moving it away from the player. Both times he lost the ball easily, and ended up fouling the next Bolton player.

Yes he got a knock down and assist, but thats all he offered in the entire 90 minutes, frequent fouling in dangerous area's, no use of his brain in those situations, offered nothing in attack. Denilson was just pointless all over, poor passing, pretty constant fouling, stupid rash challenges. Should have been booked for the penalty one(don't think he was) and the run that resulted in Vermaelen taking the player down and getting booked, damn, Denilson slid in two footed from behind completely recklessly and completely missed the player. Firstly he took himself out of the play with the pointless and tottally stupid slide, had he made contact it should have been a second yellow at that point, and that was after another pathetic and weak attempt to tackle by Diaby.

Fabregas is simply awesome, most effective player on the planet right now,

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/players/stats?id=38886&cc=5739

Don't think thats updated yet, 18 games 11 goals 11 assists is, well, absurd, thats just the league.

All competitions 28 appearances, 18 goals, 16 assists, honestly, thats just insane. Compared to Messi's scoring and assist rate last year I believe he's ahead on both, which is just again, absurd, especially considering his defensive workrate and the amount of times he makes tackles in our box and sits infront of the back four.

EDIT:- having checked, Messi played a lot less than I thought which does make his goal rate last year awesome, I thought he had played closer to the almost 80 games Xavi played last year(http://soccernet.espn.go.com/players/stats?id=38886&cc=5739), still for a less offensive player to be scoring at pretty close to Messi's rate in a better team, and kicking his ass on the assists while doing far more defensively is superb. He's also well ahead of Xavi's scoring/assist rate, who plays a very very similar role now.

The only laughable thing was football 365 article claiming the last three games have been superb against 2 of the leagues hardest to beat teams..... Bolton, 2nd from bottom, and joint 3rd most goals conceded. I hate this history thing, people are pretending this is the same Bolton who battled to European spots and were very hard to beat.

Good performance no doubt, but Diaby and Denilson looked very poor today against 2nd bottom, and its normally the top 8 they go to complete pieces against, the next month is harsh both on schedual and quality of opposition and unfortunately I don't think we'll cope even if Fabregas keeps getting a goal and an assist per game.

Disagree about Diaby; I thought he had a better game (I'm comparing him to Diaby of old) last night though without being first team and injured for a long time, he's still going to be a bit raw. Surprised to see the old 'note last that long. Hope he's back soon/taken off as a precaution. Again as we've all seen doesn't competition (Ramsey) finally get people concentrating...

Agree with Denilson. Thought once again he was lacking and had the ref not been forced to consider the very rough physical aspect of playing Bolton, he'd have easily recieved two yellows. At least Diaby and before he got injured Bender showed signs of improving. Denilson isn't, not sure if anybody's interested in him but it'd be an idea to ship him away if possible.
