carling cup football thread 22-23 *spoilers*

Just got back from the Emirates and had a great time !
The football wasn't spectacular but we had good seats, ground lvl very close to the pitch and throwing distance from the West Brom Fans !!! The banter and chanting between us and them was fantastic :D

Pleased you enjoyed yourself.

Looks quite a nice stadium, even if it looks fairly generic.

It's on my too do list to be honest, would like to see a Arsenal game, or one of the international friendlies they host.

You dont follow Man United do you?

Very much my second team through family, I'm a Sheffield Wednesday season ticket holder and fan. Well done for bringing it up, it's due to be brought up again. must have been at least a week.

I was just stating some facts dear Cheets ;) Manchester United, along with Chelsea were two of the lowest teams in regards to time added on at home games last season :)

the stadium is great but i think it lacks history but that will come hopefully when we start winning trophies again.

We've got such a small squad that there's very little point risking injury to a first team player for the sake of a pretty unimportant competition.

Wait until the 7th of November we play you in the league at St. James'. ;)

Panzer

You say that but why did you have 6/7 first team regulars on the pitch at the end, why not leave your first teamers on the bench and bring on Ngo Baheng, Shane Ferguson and Inman? Why risk your important players (Nolan, Smith and Geremi) on this unimportant cup? :p

Dont worry about the 7th November, if we lose then its an unimportant match and we dont care if we lose it or not ;) Ill be there for that one, you going?

Fairly happy with the result last night. Obviously you never want to lose but to be well worthy of progressing past one of the big four and to be able to concentrate on the league now (except for the JPT :D) suits us better.

This is actually what my head wanted before the game. Still not nice to lose though.

.. Geremi, Nolan and Smith ;)

Who came on when it was already 2-0. Plus Geremi isn't even a first teamer either.

It's obvious we want to concentrate on the league, Peterboro obviously aren't going to get promoted this year, so they can afford to stay in the cup to earn a bit of money and build up confidence. Newcastle however do have a chance of promotion and we have too small a squad as it is.

Edit- Not to mention that fact that when we brought on some senior players we were already 2-0 down. Anyway, enjoy your 'giant killing.' :p

Having paid my money, and travelling to the match last night, I was angry with the team we (Newcastle) put out. If I wanted to see the reserves, I'd have gone to a reserve league game. So many of those youngsters were well out of their depth, and as for Guthrie, the muppet should know better. If it wasn't for Krul in goal, we'd have lost 8-0.

Last time I pay my hard earned for a cup game.

I've been suffering for 36 years now, and last night was one of my biggest disappointments.

I expected something more than I got (should have known better really) ! I have no issues with the "resting players" scenario (although how professional athletes can't play 2 games of football a week is beyond me), but we just didn't field a competative side. They weren't capable of winning, that's my issue.
