pillion footrests arrived today from hong kong, only needed one but for £5 for the pair i fitted both, only need a plastic trim now that fits to the inner green fairing and she's complete

it depends on the insurer I think, ive read that some want an engineers report after its been repaired and others don't

ive gotten quotes off mce/bennetts and that came back fine without any questions

Am I right in thinking that it needs to be MOT'd again anyway? Guessing that the insurers recon that if it passes the MOT it must be fine

I don't think it matters,if it still has a valid mot on it it would still be valid once you've repaired/insured it

Its more relaxed than a car category c write off,for those you would have to have it inspected

Oh that's pretty good then. I always thought MOT etc. was immediately invalidated once the insurance company decided it was a write-off.

I don't think C or D has to be inspected for bikes, Cars yes they have to be taken to the VOSA for inspection, but they apparently don't bother for bikes, just get it MOT'd.
I had to do all the googling for this when mine was written off ;)

My MOT wasn't valid, it lapsed whilst I had it off the road, so I got it MOT'd once it was road worthy.

I guess you could check the .gov website to see if the DVLA revoked the MOT when the bike was declared a write off?

lol, government. All these rules regarding being 24 for your full licence, tightened CBT rules, having to pass 500 separate tests to get your licence, all the car rules, then they don't make you get a write-off inspected before it goes back on the road :D

ive checked it said it expired july last year, bike was wrote off in june last year

so I think the same has happened what happened to you it just expired naturally

far is I cant tell its only certain insurance companies that can ask for an engineers report, but not all are bothered, and you pay a £25 fee for applying for a new v5 if its a cat d,cat c its free

They revoked your V5? hmmm I didn't know anything about this... its been through MOT with no problems and taxed fine, surely you couldn't do either of these things if the system flags the vehicle as no valid V5?
Mine was Cat C also.

yeah they automatically revoke it if its been written off

ive applied and received a new v5 though,no trouble,im still yet to tax and mot it
