Census 2021

In what sense does that make it pointless? Just fill it in on the 21st like it says.

Because it doesn't matter.

If I say Im at home on the 21st, but instead Im at my moms down the road, what does it matter? Who is going to care about that in 100 years when the data is looked at?

Well they have been doing it since 1841 (except 1941 when we were otherwise engaged but had a 1939 mini one) so it must be useful.
However in the days of social media everybody has to have their (often pointless) opinion.
Before there was tonnes of data about all of us all over the place.

Why not link together:
  • HMRC systems
  • Local government systems
  • GP/hospital records
  • School systems
Then they would have all the data they're asking for in the census and more.

Because it doesn't matter.

You realise there are more questions than "were you at your mums on the 21st", right?

The census provides information that government needs to develop policies, plan and run public services, and allocate funding.

The data is used straight away. They only publish full names and addresses and who said what in 100 years time.

Mine arrived but before it did I just did it online and requested a code. So tempting to go Jedi this year but stayed truthful... The force isn't with me.

Got mine last week, the first time I have ever had such a form, filled it in online, it mentions a fine for refusing, so have kept email receipt safe.

Twenty years ago many people self-identified as adhering to the Jedi faith.
What will be this year's equivalent?
I predict that now that people can self-identify as having any gender, people will choose "Duck" :D
