CES 2025 AMD & Nvidia Keynote Live Chat [06/01/25]

I think its time to fish out my Nvidia series progression chart.

3070 was there or thereabouts with the 2080Ti in raw performance.

4070 was 3080 level of performance.

If the 5080 is equal to the 4090 it should be doing about 30,000 timespy score at the $1000 dollar point.

You can plot the 5090 as well, it's timespy score will be around 38k

But not that far off. If you've spent any time in the States you know that prices shown never include tax; you find that out when you get to the till!

Doing a quick conversation and adding tax comes to ~£1900.
Then add £100 - 250 for custom PCBs with better cooling. £500 if you want an ASUS Strix. :D

I feel like the biggest winners here will be people who manage to pick up a 4090 for a song from people panic selling theirs after that presentation. 5070 l 4090 performance is a heck of an image to be putting out there.

No sign of cheap 4090's yet. I would say threshold is sub £800?

Sounds about right. Needs to be a good bit under the 5080's price given how close in performance they seem to be.

It depends where you are updating from? for me a 3090

For sure, it'll be a big leap for anyone not already using a 4090. For people who do have a 4090, it just doesn't seem worthwhile for anyone but the mrks of this world who want every last bit of power.
