Champions League Spoilers 21st/22nd Feb

A great result for us Gooners, however it is only half way and we should be cautious. Granted we played very well but I doubt we'll see them play that badly at highbury although I think the tight pitch will suit us. Plus they will have to attack us will be to our benefit to be honest.

Thought Eboue was cracking tonight not really seen too much of him in the past. I think it's also one of the best games I've seen Reyes play too.

well, just got in from work and wow... didnt expect arsenal to win... well done gunners...

shame about liverpool :)

now lets see chelsea get beat tomorrow night

edit: p.s. and 3 points to the toon against charlton please

Fantastic result for Arsenal. They played very well, first English team to win Bernabeu!

Madrid looked like a washed up team full of old players who are past their best!

Anybody see that pre matrch interview with Becks, everyone has been going on about Henry to Barca but I think Becks will be playing at Highbury with Henry (or whatever the new stadium is going to be called). Remember you heard it from me first LOL.

Emirates Stadium, although virtually all the fans will be calling it Ashburton Grove. I cerrtainly will. Off topic, the stadium looks damn sexy, and is truely a sight to behold.

So Liverpool lost in Europe, does that mean they are not the best team in Europe any more or is that title they apparently hold still valid until they get eliminated?

liverpool will forever be european champions ..... to liverpool fans.

to the rest of us.. we know it lasts a year, unless you win it in consecutive seasons.

'apparently' you have to have a history and to have supported the club for more than 5 minutes to make comments like that. You can't buy european cups mate.

5 european cups, 18 leagues...hush.

hopefully barca will knock you out

What a result for us tonight, still it's only half the job done! Although our defence should be better for the second leg with Cole and Campbell back (hopefully). Hlep seemed a lot stronger than usual but still doesn't have much end product. Fabregas played a wonderfull game and so did Reyes!

Can't wait for the second leg!

LMAO.

So - where was this mighty Real Madrid that were going to put a rugby score past Arsenal?
I thought Real looked pedestrian and sluggish and incredibly ordinary - slow build up and almost nothing that could be called a "killer ball".
For a cobbled together team Arsenal had by far the better of the tie and deserved their win.

Had to be at a 24hour sports bar at 6:30am over here!!!

But let me tell you - boy was it worth it!! :D
fantastic result for the gooners!! Cant believe they won - although even before for some reason slightly felt confident!!
Bring on the 2nd leg -

Its 9am here and im off to bed lol

We are European champions, deal with it :D

Well done Arsenal! Absolutely Fantastic from Eboue, Farbregas and Toure. But i have to admit Henry could have been soooooo much better! It was a good goal, but he looked so lazy in the game; the whole arsenal team would attack but he would just stand back and watch. There were plenty of times when freddie and Reyes needed Henry to make a diagonal run so they could slip it through to him and im sure he could have a hat-trick if he had bothered to run. I was really frustrated by Henry and i dont even support Arsenal! I just think if he could have put a lot more effort in like the rest of the team Arsenal would have walked it 4/5 - 0 easily. Real were poor. Im afraid i think Henry is on his way out, he just does not look bothered anymore.

And as for the Red men tonight, cant believe we lost. We really need some strikers!! We should still beat them at Anfield but if they score im afraid we are out :( .

real madrid are just full of stars.

they are in and out with that many players they cant really be classed as a "team", they need to come back down to earth and realise they have to work hard and "gel" to actually acomplish what they have done in the past.

I used to think that right-back was one of our weakest positions. Eboue, Gilbert and Lauren? Not too shabby. :D

Brilliant match, absolutely loved it. Every single of our lads played well tonight, and they deserve the praise. I enjoyed ITV giving Senderos 7 and the rest 8+, it was all completely deserved too. Big Phil did make a couple of errors, but other than that I can't fault anyone. I only wish I had some money to buy some alcohol, I need a drink.

Everyone played very well except Hleb i thought, i dont think i've ever seen him have a shot or manage to complete 2 passes in a row and seems completely ineffectual in every game i've seen him in.
I thought he played pretty well actually, but I still got frustrated with him like you did. He had two or three really good chances that I remember, where he really should have run forward or tried a shot, but instead he always ends up spinning round and passing back/square.

EDIT: Also, I think Casillas was easily Real's best player. He made a couple of good saves, and chased the ball down well a few times too (when Diaby was through).

How many of those trophies do you remember winning or seeing your club win?
