Champions League Spoilers 21st/22nd Feb

Looked like a fantastic performance from Arsenal from what i saw, waiting for Highlights on ITV 23:00. Was behind Arsenal all the way for this one, well done.

Well a good result in the end for Milan, They will go to the San Siro which is going to be a tough place to play for Bayern. I hope Milan don't fluff it at home :o
Dida also was stretched off which hopefully only looks like a sprained ankle.

Well done to Lyon again, maybe i should put some money on them again :p

Unlucky Liverpool ;) :D

But i have to admit Henry could have been soooooo much better! It was a good goal, but he looked so lazy in the game; the whole arsenal team would attack but he would just stand back and watch. There were plenty of times when freddie and Reyes needed Henry to make a diagonal run so they could slip it through to him and im sure he could have a hat-trick if he had bothered to run. I was really frustrated by Henry and i dont even support Arsenal! I just think if he could have put a lot more effort in like the rest of the team Arsenal would have walked it 4/5 - 0 easily. Real were poor. Im afraid i think Henry is on his way out, he just does not look bothered anymore.

Yeah Henry was rubbish tonight. I'd be surprised if he plays in the return leg. TBH Walcott must take his place. Henry is well past it! No passion or anything. Shocking performance.

More importantly, has anyone won a lot of money by betting on Arsenal, anyone know the odds?

Some of the lads on the AFC forums had 50/1 1-0 with Henry to score. I 'think' he had £10. I was going for Henry, 2-1 at 70/1, but decided against it, I mean 2-1up and a penalty in the last minute, I'd want the goal not the money.
You could get 13/2 on Arsenal, the longest odds on Arsenal for years.

Probably just the 1 European Cup :p

ive watched from the stands in instanbul and the other 4 via tv highlights, dvd's etc. if you want a history lesson on your own club i'd be happy to help you out though...as for any other chelsea supporters, no worries either.

ITV coverage was and continues to be awful.
Why do McCoist and Townsend have to be on the corner of the pitch , shouting down the microphones while imitating resting on a flimsy cardboard lectern?

Great pre match build up, "the atmosphere has to be heard to be believed" "its immense Ally" cue camera panning round the ground and almost every fan in view idly picking their nose , eating peanuts and generating no atmosphere at all.

At least sky have the nous to cover it up when they are hyping everything to death.

ITV = crap.

Mind you , that FCUK advert they keep showing is canny.

Not bad, 21 being my lucky number i put £21 on Arsenal to win in the early hours of this morning (the 21st), so a good result all round :D

Hopefully Henry will get offloaded to Barca soon, I'm getting sick and tired of his continual failure to deliver in the big games.

Cicinho looked a shadow of the player from the Confederations cup, continually getting caught out of position (despire his critics, Roberto Carlos gets back well after straying forward). When he wasn't fouling, he was falling down very theatrically.

Ronaldo looked about as effective as a lead baloon, a shape he somewhat resembles these days. Quite why Madrid chose to replace Robinho (ok so he's lightweight, but at least he looked threatening at times) instead of him I'm not sure.

Oh, and one for BoomAM: Peter Drury confirmed this evening that Flamini is indeed Arsenal's 8th choice leftback :)

Looking over at Physioroom, however, it seems that we may have 5 or 6 players back in time for the second leg, which is good news: Cole, van Persie, Bergkamp, Clichy, Gilbert and possibly Campbell. My concern is that we might go out on away goals so hopefully these reinforcements should allow us to tread water and hold out for the draw.

Cole apparently played in a friendly this afternoon. It wouldn't surprise me if he's in the squad for Saturday.

Cole could have been risked today, but Wenger decided against it, Rvp coming back is great news, I think he should figure too. Bergkamp will be on the bench, I can't see Gilbert getting in front of Eboue now for a while, and if Coles back he'll be on the bench.
Sol, not too bothered if he's back or now, I think we will be better without him.

Yeah, played 68 minutes in a 3-1 win over Barnet

when they are "pitchside" it just reminds me of american football.

makes me cringe.

AMAZING RESULT....BUT can we now start performing to at least 80% of this level?

Yes we played brilliantly, everyone gave there all for 90mins. But finishing still wasn't amazing, we could have killed off both legs, and why have we been so poor domestically recently yet put in an amazing performance ;like that?

I do realise big games bring out the best in players, but I would love to see us transfer this perfomance to the league.

Eboue and Toure proved their worth, lets hope that with them at the back our premiership perfomances will greatly improve.

Still shocked...such a great result and great performance.

Nothing special, 7.2 which equates to 6.2-1 or a profit of ~£130

As for the players coming back, I wasn't expecting them all to walk straight into the first team, but it means that players will potentially be better rested prior to the second leg, and we can have a stronger bench with more options than we've had lately. Flamini was strong in the tackle today but his positioning left a bit to be desired, so hopefully one of Cole/Clichy will be taking his place for the return leg.

Cole will probably go straight back into playing in the first-team I reckon, simply because we're still so short on LBs, and I expect RvP will (hopefully) be back up front fairly soon.

I was thinking that actually. I guess Ronaldo is too big for Real to dare take off nowadays, and Robinho knows his place like a good new signing.

I wish David Pleast was a mute, and Tyldesly gave me the butterflies when he kept going on about how we were clearly going to win with 10-15 minutes left.

'apparently' you have to have a history and to have supported the club for more than 5 minutes to make comments like that. You can't buy european cups mate.

5 european cups, 18 leagues...hush.

hopefully barca will knock you out

Hopfully they won't, the more English teams in Europe at the later stages the better. Even if i am not the biggest Chelsea fan ever, i don't wish them to be beaten in Europe, even if you do wish the same upon us.

Gallas is definitely out tomorrow night.
That's a big hole opened, considering Carvalho has to play at CB now:(
The game tomorrow will be littered with cheating, from both sides not just Robben. JT, Lamps & AJ are all on yellows so Barca will know that the away leg will be easier without them & the ref has already voiced his opinions on lasts years encounters, which he really shouldn't of:(
